Hitting the option key changes the operation to print in the menu bar, but the pause symbol over the picture of the printer does not go away.

The hold button in the menu bar, above the picture of the printer has a red exclamation point over it.

The bar at the top of the list to be printed are from left to right:

    Delete-Hold-Resume-Resume Printer-info-Utility- Supply Levels

The picture of the printer under this bar is displaying a pause button in green over the printer picture

I reloaded the driver as per your instructions. The printer is still paused. The picture of the printer in the dock has a paused symbol over it.

Empty the printer cue and restart your mac, that is the usual procedure when the printer stays paused.

I own several macs and I have learned that sometimes the printer though it is connected and turned on properly, still won't communicate with the computer until you actually reboot the computer and then hit the resume /pause button in the printer set up menu.

Sometimes the printer has an issue with it and needs to be corrected before it can continue. Perhaps you need to check the printer and see if it is working properly. You should be able to send a test page to print and possibly do it form the screen of the printer.

I hope this helps.

First, go to HP Support and download and install the latest software for your printer here. Then
reboot your pc. Turn off your printer and unplug (from power) for 30 seconds then turn it on. If you get a setup screen, follow the directions. If not, open the printer's menu and and print a test page (alignment page) before trying to print anything else. If this doesn't help, please let me know.

In the printer settings folder (StartMenu > Settings > Printers ) make sure that the proper printer is set as the default (little black check mark).  Right click on the printer and make sure that there is no check mark next to "use printer offline" and "pause printing".    If these two settings are fine, double click the printer icon, a small window will appear.  If your document is still waiting to be printed it will be listed here.  If the document is not listed here try to print it again.or just reload the printer drivers again it will solve the issue completely for hp printer drivers

this is the link for drivers just load the proper drivers from the link and start printing.

If there is a picture of a printer in the bottom right in the task bar right click on it it should give you an option to see the files that are to be printed go there and in the top of the box that comes up will have some options at the top of the box click there and one will say continue click that one and it should start

Check to see if the printer is paused or offline
In Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP, print jobs will not start printing if the print queue is paused or set to Use Printer Offline . The following steps may be used to ensure that the queue is not paused and or set to Use Printer Offline .

    NOTE:
When using the start menu in Windows XP the printers folder cab be accessed by clicking Start , Control Panel , Printers and Other Hardware and then choosing view a list of installed printers.

    1. Click Start , Settings , and Printers .

    2. Right-click the icon of the printer in use and select Open .

    3. Check to see if there are any print jobs in the queue. If there are queued print jobs, see the HP document (in English) Clearing Out Incomplete Print Jobs (c00027882).

    4. Click Printer from the menu and make sure there are no checkmarks next to Pause Printing or Work Offline. If a checkmark is present, click either Pause Printing or Work Offline to remove the checkmark.

    5. If Pause Printing is not checked, press the ESC key on the keyboard to leave the menu without making any changes.

    6. If a print job is interrupted, print jobs will back up in the print queue. Locate and double-click the printer in the Printers folder, click the Printer option, and choosecancel or purge print jobs/documents .click this link for more help

Why does my hp 7410 all in one ask me to remove and check color cartridge?

Yeah, as I am a victim to this very same problem, the other guys are right. The metal spring that is part of the ink carriage becomes a hole punch for the ribbon cable right behind the unit. Now you have a useless printer that you think has faulty ink cartridges, but in fact it's a faulty printer. Because of this design flaw, HP should compensate each and everyone of us, no matter how long ago the purchase of the printer was. I bought mine in 2006 for over $600 and for such a little thing that will break at some point, causes such a huge problem. It's caused by you putting the ink cartridges into the unit. You don't have to be aggressive with the install for the failure to occur, normal installs will cause the same affect. My suggestion to you my friend is to put it up for auction on eBay and use that money for a new printer. Gots me a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus that was 1/3 the cost of the 7410, with pretty much the same features and more!

The cartridge u are using must be HP97 (color)...

As for the solution;

1. Open up the door (cartridge will be centered)

2. Unplug the power cord

3. Pull out the cartridge

4. Wipe out the cartridge circuit part with soft tissue or paper towel.

5. And put it back

6. Plug the power again.

If above method is not working, then it has to do with cartridge problem..
(circuit part may be short most likely, especially when you used competible or refilled cartridge)

For next time, try easier way to save your $$.

The HP 99 cartridge is used if you would like to print photos. The HP 99 replaces the HP 96 (black) cartridge in your printer. The HP 99 cartridge has black, photo magenta, and photo cyan inks in it. When you pair this with the cyan, magenta, and yellow in your HP 97 (color) cartridge you have the full set of photo colors represented.

Prints blurry every other line with black color

Hi,

Is it the ink cartridge contacts you already cleaned? If so, then you can also clean it using the tools menu from the printer panel:

-press setup menu, then go to tools
-select clean print cartridge and press ok
-it will print a test page. If the printout is good, you can try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I have HP 7410 printer. but I believe there is a hole in wires that connect to Black cartridge. Do you have that parts for sale?

It's really hard to get a broken wire inside the print mechanism, so I suspect that something else is going on. Have you tried using a different ink cartridge? If a different cartridge does the same thing examine the holder where the ink cartridge inserts, sometimes a little bit of debris (dirt, tape.etc) can get on the pins that connect the printer to the cartridge.

Sounds like a bad cartridge, you may want to try an original, it may be worth the cost instead of a new printer. First clean contacts on printer w/alcohool and put the cartridge back in. Not fixed try a new one may be worth the $40
