To retrieve your IMEI #.. Here's several ways of doing it:

(1) The easiest way, on the phone call dial pad enter:
*#06#

(2) If you had cellular service on that device. Call your Service Provider for your IMEI #. They will have this available in their own records.

(3) If the phone was not activated on a cellular service yet, contact the Seller who sold it to you.. Many Sellers write down the IMEI # for their records.

(4) It could be on a label on the original box it came in..

(5) The other way to retrieve the IMEI # of that cell phone is to check your Google Account.. As long as you had set up your Google/Gmail account on your phone.

Here's how to do it:
On a computer internet browser, go to:

Sign-in to your Google account and then select the "Expand All" tab which will list all your devices connected to your Google account and all of their IMEI #'s

The international mobile equipment identity number or IMEI number is a unique number for phones in order to identify that particular mobile phone. Every time a phone is used an electronic fingerprint is transmitted to identify the handset. These numbers are used to reveal the identity of phones so that they could be marked as grey marketed and blocked if necessary. As much as it is possible to change an IMEI number, it is not easy to do so. To change the number you need technical skills and sophisticated equipment.
Even if you end up doing it, you must know that changing a mobile phone's IMEI number is considered a criminal offence according to the criminal code. Even if you are holding any data or device with the intention of changing an IMEI number, you could be taken for trial.

If your mobile hand set got stolen, you need to do following things.

1. Submit FIR for your mobile loss, give details of hand set model, color, IMEI number etc.

2. Ask your service provider to track the mobile phone, your mobile phone will be tracked only if the thief are using your mobile hand set with any sim card. If the thief is keeping your mobile switched off, your service provider can not track the mobile hand set location.

3. If you are unable to find your mobile number, insure that at least your mobile handset is locked. The thief can not use (misuse) your mobile with any sim card. You should ask mobile service provider to lock your mobile through IMEI number.

If the thief is smart, he/she can unblock the mobile ( IMEI Unlock ) using the latest software and technology.

Have you purchased from new? Was it a second hand unit or passed down?
If a phone has been reported to a uk network as lost or stolen it will be placed on a barring list that is used by all uk networks!
If this is the case it will only allow emergency calls only as the network your using is barring it.
If you call your network they have access to the shared data base and can check within a few minutes for you. You will need the IMEI number from the iphone which you can find on the SIM tray in small print, or if you can access the phones number pad dial *#06# this will display the phones IMEI on the screen (this should work on any mobile phone).

Another solution maybe that your SIM card has been disconnected? Have you tried your SIM in another phone to check?
