Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I bought an HP Laptop 3 months ago (with Windows Vista) and the Internet keeps crashing when I'm online. It starts up again automatically, which helps, but I lose the pages I was on. Is is my PC or Vista? Never had this problem with other PCs but have never had Vista before. Thank you!

Are you connected wirelessly or with a cable?
Check your Router maybe it's the one who's crashing. It might be also you’r internet service provider (ISP) who’s working on the lines.

To check you’re ISP, enter the router software, and it will tell if is connected or not. Leave it open when surfing and when it’s crashing check again the connection.

Vista need a lot of memory, it doesn't let a lot of space to run other program, if you are for example downloading with Bittorrent, surf and have different soft open, your connection might crash.
Try to use just a few prog. and see if it's crashing.

If yes and it's not you're router, return your HP to change the wireless card.

Try clearing your browser history & cache. When these get to full it causes the problem you describe. You can access these features from the tools icon on your browser>internet options. Hope this helps.

It's known as the "Blue Screen of Death" Because they usually require Formatting and starting over.
BUT, Not always. Write down the code that is usually along the top in white font. Google it and see if there is a cure. When I did I get several solutions like these. Be Careful you don't buy anything you don't want. Some sites are free. Note the first option below is from Micrisoft.

Good Luck.

Power on the machine, keep pressing F8 so that you enter into safe mode,
after logging on try uninstalling webroot. If successfully uninstalled, try using AVAST the free version, its far much better than webroot.

I have a compaq presario laptop with windows vista, 2 weeks ago it was working fine and now it loads up fine but crashes everytime i try something, what can i do appart from wiping off and starting again

Hi. I think the best to resolve this issue is to restore again your system to its factory settings or reformat again your system, then after doing it you should disable the automatic updates from the control panel so that you're system would not automatically update itself, because most of the time Vista crashes because the updates it made and sometimes you tend to shutdown your system without finishing the updates from microsoft then it would cause that crash the next time you open up your system. To disable the automatic updates just go to control then click classic view on the upper left side then look for the Windows Update icon on the control panel, and from ther just turn off the automatic updates. I would also suggest that if you to maintain the automatic update you should make sure that the updates are already finish before you shutdown your computer or you could change the schedule of the updates depends on what date have you chosen. Hope This Helps

Hi there. I brought my laptop two month ago from carphonewear house and 3 mobile. It all ready had microsoft work 9 installed on it. When i try to use it it keeps asking for a product key number. Which...

Hello, the product key in the bottom of the laptop is for windows, the product key the program is asking is somewhere else, possibly on top of the cd or on the cd cover or in a manual.

you have to ask your dealer about it if you can't find it.

again the one in bottom of the laptop is for windows xp or vista which ever your laptop uses.

Well, free trial over. You may have a pirate or bootleg Windows Vista copy. Get valid key from the hardware or software vendor who charged you for both.

Sounds like a memory 'leak'. Just because it's the 'correct' memory, doesn't mean it's not faulty. I would have them exchanged.

You can run a Microsoft memory diagnostic program to determine is they are faulty.

The software is free from Microsoft from here:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Also, always try to stick with a 'known' brand (kingston, samsung, etc).
