Question about RCA 20V500T 20" TV
I have an rca tv that is stuck on standby, the remote was misplaced in a recent move, and there is no way to get it back, i have tried pushing the buttons on the front of the tv but nothing works can you help me?
If the front panel lock is on, you will need a working original remote (or a universal remote properly programmed for RCA) to turn the set on. The IR receiver is next to the buttons on the fromt but the RCA IR receivers are very reliable, and I have yet to see a bad one in a modern RCA TV. Once you turn the set on by remote, you can enter the menu and turn the FPA off.

Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:

Hey this same thing happened to me not too long ago and you just have to buy a Universal remote and program it (it should come with the codes to program it to your TV) I think the code is 704 or 702 for RCA... Anywho after that then you can turn your tv back on wit the remote and push menu and Preferences and then FPA off. Its just a parental control block so your kids cant touch the tv buttons and mess with your settings.

easy. some rca tv's have a disable function for the buttons on front of tv. keeps little children from changing channels and going into menu. you need a remote to access the menu. then go into parental child lock function in menu. hope you are not the child and your parents locked the front buttons. hehe
