Re: Recording music MP3 files

What kind of computer operting system are you using? [win_XP, ME (melliam edition),win_98,win_95(still around!) What type of software are you using?[win_media player, RealPlayer,Quick time, about 15 different types of programs] All work simulor and each tell the 'music, talk, data, etc'to change, convert, format a different way. not enought memory=won't work, not enought disk space=won't work.See if you can take the time to read the "Help" section of program. That helps me a lot with my problems.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

Which disc can be used to recrord on ?

According to the user manual, the following DVD media you can record with this unit are:

DVD+R 2.4x, 4x, or 8x ONLY; DVD+RW 2.4x and 4x ONLY.

It is NOT possible to record on CD-R or CD-RW discs.
IMPORTANT: It is NOT possible to record content that is copy-protected. This is usually true for most pre-recorded DVD discs and most pre-recorded VHS tapes.

DVD discs - DVD movie discs (DVD-ROM); DVD+R; DVD+RW; DVD-RW (must be recorded using video mode or VM); DVD-R (must be recorded using video mode or VM and must be finalized).
CDs (Audio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW) - Audio CDs contain musical or sound content only. mp3 discs are CDs (CD-R or CD-RW)
that contain mp3 files. This product also plays CDs that contain JPEG files and Multisession CDs.
Video CD (VCD) and Super Video CD (S-VCD) discs - Like DVD video discs, VCDs contain picture and sound content. The difference is the amount of information that can be stored on the disc.
VCDs typically have lower picture and sound quality than DVD discs.
Super Video CDs (S-VCDs) can be used to record up to 70 minutes of digital sound and video, with MPEG-2 standard video and MPEG-1 standard audio-but you must use DVD+R or DVD+RW discs to record on your DVD/VCR not S-VCDs.
Additionally, S-VCD disc compatibility is dependent on which MPEG coding software, disc design software, and disc writer software are used; and the discs themselves.

(The above information is extracted from the user manual for this particular model and is a guide only)

I find it very strange that the user manual does not provide any information about DVD-R recording since this is a DVD recorder. I guess you could try those types of discs in it, otherwise it will playback finalised DVD-R discs recorded/burned in another machine.

I assume you have the original manual for this unit. If not, you may be able to download it free from various sites. (retrevo may have it but they may ask you for email address prior to downloading)

I hope the above information helps a tiny bit with regard to DVD formats for this unit.

I have burned a .wma video file on a cd-r, on my computer it runs perfectly... only when i put it in my dvd player it say's stop and won't play. Can someone help me out ? Thanks Jeff

Several causes for non-playback:
1. Your CD player doesn't like CD-R
2. Your CD player doesn't recognize wma
3. The music you converted to wma is copy protected and the CD player wont play due to that.

1. Most likely this isn't the problem as most working CD/DVD players recognize CD-R. Double check with your user manual.
2. Check your DVD player's playback formats. Most will play mp3 and wav. If that's the case, rip your music to mp3.
3. There are many hacks out there to remove copy protection. This you'll have to figure out on your own :)

When i place a recordable dvd it reads "no disk"

If you have +R/RW you can use only +R or RAM DVDs.
Also check the allowed maxximum recording speed (refer the manual, please). If you have for example 4 you can not use disc higher when 4 (it has to be marked 1-16)
If you use 2.7 you should use only discs there it marked 2.7 speed etc
If everything seems OK you need to use CD/DVD clening disk ($6 Walmart)
Please kindly let me know if you need more info. I am here to help
Good Luck

Windows media or Itunes can rip a CD for you and convert them into MP3 files. Then you can put in a blank CD in the computer and copy the MP3 files into the CD and burn them that way.

It requires to put the CD into a data format to burn them rather than a music CD format.

Dvdro5 this is as close as I have found. Different brand names but basically the same. If you are copying home movies use the av outputs from the vcr to the av inputs of the vcr, then the av outputs of the ILO to the tv - while recording from your tapes. I read somewhere if it is macrovision protected you can bypass it by using the coax out from your vcr to the Antenna in on the ILO and then pick up that signal in your TUNER of the ILO. I have had good success with both, I prefer the av if I can get that to work, better picture, but sometimes it won't record that way, esp old tapes, so try the ant in (coax) if the av doesn't work. Use + R discs or +RW discs (sony brand is the best +R but it doesn't matter on the +RW's)

Ilo dvdr05 dvd burner

Do the discs play okay in other dvd players? If not, perhaps the unit is getting hot during recording? Mine has to have ample space around it in order to not mess up.

Have been looking for a spare universal remote for 2 years. None have worked even ones Guaranteed to work on all brands. Have you tried a Learning remote contol? I'm tempted to try, they might work but cost more then what I gave for my ILO at the pawn shop.
