We have a Hitatchi 50" rear projection tv that started out with a blue circle on the left side which has now turned the entire left side a blue hue. There are also several pin head size blue dots throughout the screen. We replaced the lamp approx. 6 months ago. Other than this blue tint and tiny dots the tv is great. Can you help?

Your tv is an LCD projection one - in which the image is generated by 3 small LCD screens. The blue dots are pixels from the blue LCD that are dead - always fully open. The only fix is to replace the LCD panel and that is going to cost you around $300.
The Optical Block is the most likely cause. It has been known for this problem. The cost of the Optical block in this model series is approx. 600.00 or so.
I am not sure if Sony will deal with a Consumer on a one on one basis for this part because of the cost of the part. You can check with Sony at 1800-222-SONY.
I hope this helps,
its sounds like the guns has burnt your yube, when switching of does your tv show a bright circle in the middel, or while watching. Smack your tv on the side while on see if the picture goes away or make a bright circle in the middel, this is caused by a bad solder joint but you wont get rid of the bunt pixels sorry.
