  • Anonymous May 17, 2009 problem is the same as anyone else! I dont know if your computer is an Acer Aspire One PC Notebook (WHITE) or not but that is what mine is. I was reading my user guide and I think I found the problem! but in order to fix this you must wipe off (restore) you computer. First you must save what you want or need on eather floppys,USB's, or CD's. this will let you put it back on when you have redone your computer. This is all I can think of so I hope this helps. (I PUT WHAT I COULD IN DUMBER WORDS SO THAT IF KIDS NEEDED TO DO THIS THEY CAN. IF THIS WORKS I WILL POST IT.

I had (Acer One).the problem too after I had a wandering cursor (and nothing else would work) problem and had to shake the slate so to speak and start factory fresh, It seems that wasn't fresh enough when dwret=5 raised it's ugly head.
The solution is a file named: eRecovery_v2.1.3001

It worked like a charm. Just install the proram and restart the computer..

Save it, if you ever have to reformat the hardrive you'll probably need it again.

This bug occurs to me only after the logon process, with an user domain account, in a Windows Active Directory domain controller.

Be careful: the following instructions describes how to delete the recovery management system from the Aspire One. Be sure that you don't want to use anymore the recovery system Acer's program that comes to default with your netbook.

Edit the windows registry:
From Start > Run > Regedit
Locate the path:
Locate the string:
"eRecoveryService"="C:\\Acer\\Empowering Technology\\eRecovery\\eRAgent.exe"
From File > Export > Export and save the entire current key and then delete only the above string from registry

Download Process Explorer from Sysinternals:

Launch Process Explorer, locate "erAgent.exe"

Copy the folder: C:\Acer to another disk (or backup it to a cd-rom/usb pendrive)

From Process Explorer right click on "erAgent.exe" then choose Kill Process Tree

Delete the folder C:\Acer

Restart the netbook

How to show usb download stick on tv

You might actually repost this in televisions and not laptops. With that said, most televisions that will support displaying digitial images stored on a flash drive, will pop up with options on the screen when the flash drive is plugged into the USB port.

My acer turns on but the screen does not turn on?

Take a flash light and point it at the screen, do you see something?

If you do its your back light that has given out on you and this will need to be repaired and replaced with a new part. you need to google you model number followed by backlight for your part I am sure it can be bought. these are a little hard to put in but there is youtube folks out there that show you hot its done , other then that you need to take it to a tech locally.

Thanks I hope this helps please do leave positive feedback and ratings for my efforts.

PHILIPS DVD player 616K, how to change region or get into right region. my player was working OK. Suddenly it stopped functioning and showed/diplayed '' wrong region'' on the TV screen.

Changing the region code for DVD616K :

1. Press OPEN/CLOSE, and wait for the tray to open.

2. Use the remote control to input digital key '1', '1', '1', '0' in that order

if that dont work go 1, 1 1, 1 in that
Kindly leave a few seconds between each entry, the microprocessor is slow
with these entries.
3. Press number '7', '8' or '9' to display the current region code of the DVD
4. Press any number of '0' to '6' to set the required region code. The OSD
will display the new region code of the DVD player.
5. Region '0' will be the setting for multi region
6. The region setting will be saved in the FLASH memory.
7. Press OPEN/CLOSE again, the DVD player will return to normal operation.

note: you want to chose region 0 so u can use all regions

Very, very dark display screen (almost completely black)

What you are describing is the inverter in a the laptop display going bad. The only fix is to purchase the correct display inverter for that model and install it in your laptop display.

It could be some of your system application cause your internet explorer not to open. I suggest to try the steps below.

1. Click start
2, go to Run, then type this command in the box.

a pop window will show up on the screen.

3. Look for Services as one of the tab of the window.

4. Under services, look for a smal box at the bottom portion of the screen that say "hide all microsoft services" then click on disable all.

5. Look for Startup tab on the same window screen. Then click on Disable all. Click on apply then "Ok/ Close"

6. Restart your computer. After restarting your computer. You will see the system configuration utility window. just put a check on a small box that say "Do no show the message" then click Ok.

7. Try to open your internet explorer icon.

Keep me posted.

It's not working!

It seems to be a software failure. Try using your recovery CD to sort it out. If it continuous then i would recommend a clean install if there's nothing that important on your laptop.

BSoD, Garbled Screen, Boot Failure.

If you are getting garbage on the screen before windows tries to load the laptop probably has a bad motherboard.

It's possibly only the video output is going bad on it, try hooking it to an external monitor and see if you get the same weird stuff on that screen.

Good luck, let me know how it goes
