Can I use the EN-7500 monitor without connecting to a computer?

I want to use the monitor as a TV only. I also don't have a DC adapter. Can I buy an universal adapter at a computer store or do I have to order one from Envision?Thank you.

Sure. Works great just as a TV. Mine started giving me trouble which I though was an power adapter problem so I search and found one on e-bay for about $20. I believe I used "Envision en7500 adapter" in my search.

Envision en-7500 won't power on

The problem is in the power supply board, at least one capacitor is open, sometimes will bulge at the top making it easier to spot.

I just reconnected my kds monitor and it does not come on I only have one cord and it connects to the computer should there be another power connection. Don't know where my skematic for this monitor...

you can get the support information on the monitor from KDS here
All monitors have at least 2 connections, 1 power and 1 data cable (Some have multiple data input options all have at least 1)
In most cases the power is a standard 3 pin PC outlet cable (Same cable as a desktop computer uses) some more compact designs us an AC adapter and DC input similar to a portable computer.
If you post the exact model I can post a more exact answer

What size is the power socket lead is it 5.5 outer and 2.5 inner thanks for your help

From my repair experience, 5.5 OD and 2.5 ID is commonly use on the power supply adapter since 2.5mm is made to handle higher current than the 2.1mm (2.1mm is usually for 2A or less).
Center is also positive.
But your can also be 6.5mm OD x 3mm ID. I would try Radi Shack, that is where I get the DC barrel connector in case of emergency repair.

Samsung LCD monitor DC voltage

The internal DC power supply consists of 2 REGULATED power supply circuits, one is 5VDC (about 1A) for logic circuits, another is 12~18vdc (about 3~4A) for the backlight circuits.
Here are the service manuals: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=SAMSUNG%20&megnev2=943&kategoria=&kat2=all

It may not be practical to build two external power supply, and you have to know the points where to tap into on the PCB.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor wont come on.green lite on the switching adaptor is off.Is the adaptor bad or monitor bad? How do I get a new adaptor?Model # WDS048120

The lamp on the power supply adapter should be on the minute it is plugged onto the AC outlet without the DC plug connected to the monitor, if it is not on then the AC adapter is bad, you can check the DC voltage with a digital meter. Post back so we can guide you further.

LCD blinking on and off continually

If it flashes ON and OFF when simultaneously unplugged from both power and the computer then it's trying to communicate with you. Mine flashes code to me. It tells me what to do. Last night it told me to get it $5,000,000 in unmarked bills. Seriously, turn the monitor on without connecting it to a computer. If it flashes ON and OFF continously, then you have either a bad monitor or a bad AC/DC power adapter/brick (you know, the rectangular black corded adapter you plug into the wall outlet). If it only flashes ON and OFF when connected to a computer, try the monitor on another computer. If the monitor is 3-4 years old, it may be time to replace it since a replacement AC/DC adapter might be very hard to find. Let me know what you find out, if you need more help.
