Your PC may not be able to charge it. If it does it's only a trickle charge. May take a day or two
The Garmin cigarette lighter charger take 4 hours.

I got a garmin 255w as a gift, therefore I didnt get a purchase receipt. I forgot my pin and my security location is about 3 to 4 hours away from me, since I now moved, so im kind of giving up on this...

You'll have to take it back to the security location as there is no other solution since you don't have the receipt, or ask the gift giver for the receipt so you can get Garmin to reset the PIN. This is to prevent the GPS being used if it is stolen.

I was just given the Garmin 255W as a Christmas gift. Can you purchase the lifetime maps or do you have to pay for each update after the 60 day free update is over.

There are no lifetime maps for your Garmin nuvi. Garmin updates their maps over time, so there are no lifetime maps available for the device. There are free maps and you can buy maps from Garmins website.

I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 260 on ebay and it is locked. How do I unlock it. It does nothing but ask for the pin?

I would do one of two things: ask the seller for the PIN or return it and get your money back. You cannot get past the PIN number without entering the correct PIN, taking the unit back to the location at which the PIN was entered or returning the unit to Garmin. However, Garmin requires proof of purchase in order to send the unit back to you.

New 255w does not work.

Sorry but you'll have to call Garmin. Never purchase anything from a store going out of business unless you check it out in the store and your happy it works.

The Garmin doesn't need to plug into anything to work normally.  Just turn it on!
