Question about Sony KDF-E60A20 60 in. LCD HDTV

2 Answers

Yellow tint on screen, little bright spots on the dark blue.

The screen has a yellow tint in the middle and around the sides, also bright little spots on the dark blue. seems to be getting worse. If watching something with a white background, it's very noticeable. Any thoughts on this. It is a Grand KF-42WE610.

my tv is the same model number but not a projection itleast I didnt think it was, any idea on how to clean mine

Oh Yeah! I have "the spots", the dark picture even though I've replaced the lamp once already, and the green haze. Spots appear to be dust on internal optics that are inaccessable. My Solution? Gave the ****** to my mother and bought a Sony 52" Bravia for myself. I'm thinking Sony let us all down when they designed this baby.

Sony model KDF-E60A20 and many other rear projection televisions are in a clkass act lawsuit go here and file your suit and get our lawsuit going. sony can fix this heck my tv is 4 years old and i spent close to $3000. I already had to have my thermal fuse changed buy a technician and that was $300. The spots is dust in the optical box which sony is responsible for with this faulty product. We can get what they ow us go here and FILE YOUR SUIT....HURRY http://www.sonya20tvclassaction.com/main/home.sfx

If it happened gradually I would suspect the lamp--a photo posted here might help.

The other possible cause in a Optical light engine which might be very expensive to replace in this brand.

Typical light engine:

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

Having a big yellow spot background in the middle of the picture.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more.  Now blue spots on upper right side too.  Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.

Yellow spot

the problem is in the light path starting with the blue input polarizer then the blue lcd hopefully its just the input polarizer. worst case you will have to replace the LCD block witch is expensive to do. the polarizer ia a speacialy tinted glass designed to help with the LCD's temp.

Yellow middle, Blue Exterior

Hi Druaga

This is a Blue LCD Polarizer that will have to be replaced if the spot shows yellow.

You will find that this will only get worse as time goes by.
