Make sure the other computer is compatible with the hdd. Remove the hdd from old computer. Set jumpers to what new computer requires for 2nd hdd. Put in new computer and hook up proper cables. Boot and bios should recognize new hardware. Hope this helps.

Can I connect a WD1600 Hard Disk via USB connector for external drive?

You need to purchase an USB hard drive adapter case and install your hard disk inside this case. Take your hard drive with you when you got to a computer shop so you will get the correct IDE or SATA USB adapter case.

Windows7 wont read wd1600 caviar as a external drive ???

Did you install the western digital drive softare? There should have been a disk with the drive, which you run when you have installed the drive. It tells the computer there is a new hdd in town. If you don't have the disk, google Western Digital, find their website, and search for HDD driver software, with the model number of your drive. You should be able to download the drivers to your computer, and install them that way.

I have an WD1600 and Windows don't want to startup. It Always restart. I've tried to repair windows with CHKDSK, but i have bad sectors that can't be repaired by CHKDSK. I can't find any...

Mohamed if the hard drive has bad sectors on it is best to replace the hard drive itself. But you need to save the files first by doing so, you have to do a parallel re install. Parallel re install is like booting your hard drive with 2 operating systems for details on how to do that click on this link.
Once you are finished try downloading and saving it on a external hard drive all the files that you saved. Purchase another hard drive and upload the files that you have saved

I have a pc with a western digital wd1600 hard drive that will not start. I am not sure if it is the power supply or the hard drive. What is the easiest way to try to get the data off the hard drive?

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

I have a WD1600. When I turn the computer on, I hear a ticking noise from the hard drive. It ticks 10 times and pauses, and again until I get a hard drive failure on my screen.

The ticking is the reading head trying to read the data. Since it fails that means that the hard disk has died. This is unfixable and all the data on it is lost. Just take it out and replace it.
