Question about HP LaserJet 5p Printer

1 Answer

Laserjet 5p leaves a thin white vertical line when printing

Whever I print graphics or text and graphics I get a single thin white vertical line running from top to bottom of the page about 2-3" from right edge.

Toner cartridge has been replaced and still no change and no under memory errors displayed.

Any ideas?

This line only appears when I try to print a graphic otherwise text printing is normal with no dropout or white line.

So I doubt that it is a scratch.

Either the drum and/or developer is scratched or has a line on it ..

If you look at a page that is "text" and look closely I would offer that you would see the line .. but it is so thin that is is not showing up or it is possibly "between the characters"

Make sure that you are using the correct drivers for your printer, run through the printer setup again and then check the print.

HP Laserjet IIIP starting printing thin vertical black line

Was this happening before you swapped toner?
Is there toner streaks on the drum? Yes? Defective.
What if you stop the printer (open cover) as it passes through the fuser to determine if image is from drum or fuser?
But really....isn't it time to move on anyway???

Problem with vertical white line on HP laserjet 1020 printer.

there is probably toner on the laser. take a small vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the printer. DO NOT blow out the printer as it may scratch the mirror on the laser. Also take a cloth and some rubbing alcohol and wipe off all the visible surfaces inside the printer.

LaerJet 5p Extra page prints with code

check all your application.(word, Excel) by going into print preview, you might have a single black page at the begining. ( this happens when you save the templete with a blank page.)

if that is not, let me know. got to go one step at atime.
