Question about Activision Call of Duty: Finest Hour

1 Answer

PS2 Call of Duty Finest Hour loses video and screen goes black.

Just purchased Call of Duty "Legacy" with "Finest Hour" and "Big Red One" for PS2. During "Finest Hour" play the screen goes dark, all video is lost. The audio is still there. Happens at different points during play, not consistent. Haven't tried "Big Red One" but have no trouble with any other games. It's 12/26/08 and will return to store tomorrow if I can't solve the problem.

Sometimes disk read problems arise when there are scratches/smudges on the surface(reading area).
Try giving it a clean, from the centre out to the edge, with a clean, soft cloth, then try again.
You could also try the disk in another PS2 to see if it's your hardware that is the problem. If it repeats in another machine, the disk itself is faulty, otherwise you might just need to get hold of a cd/dvd lens cleaner disk, run that, and see if it solves the problem.
Hope that helps.
Cheers from New Zealand :D

Can I use The computer USB link To PS2 USB to play on my Lcd screen attached to my Desk top Computer.Thank you. Victor

You are not able to use USB to send video out of the PS2. What you would need to do is figure out what video inputs your computer has, if any. Most don't come with any, unless there is a seperate video card attached to the machine. If you have this then there may be an S-Video connection on this card. Most cards with this connection can use it for input or output, but sometimes need a seperate "dongle" or box with cable, to allow for this to occur. If you have this connection on the card then you can find a S-Video to RCA adapter and then run the Yellow RCA from your PS2 into this adapter, then plug the S-video on the other end into the PC. You will also need a 3rd party software to view the video. I use Nero Recode, which is a part of the Nero Burning Rom package. There are many other products out there that allow the same thing, try a few trials and see what works best for you.
You can also then get an RCA to 1/8" headphone jack converter and plug the red and white RCA's from the PS2 into the adapter, then plug the 1/8" headphone jack into the Line IN on your soundcard on the pc and then you will have video and audio coming into the pc.
Let me know if this helps or if you need more info.

I wanted to play on lord of the rings the third age for ps2 when the console struggled to read it and went on to a red screen saying please insert format disc, i dont what one of them is and i just want to...

Is your disc original!!!
If don't, you have to change it to original, because PS2 ( with no Mod-Chip) can't read copy disc.

It's different if you install a Mod-Chip on the PS 2 Board, it's not a big problem.

If your disc is original and still won't play, then possibly the disc it self or the PS 2 lens already dirty, try cleaning it both........

There is something wrong with my ps2 77003 the disc spinning lens moves till now its fine but there is neither sound nor video onley a black screen?ant its not a cable related probelm...so what the hell is...

sounds like an internal problem most likely with the wires connected to the video cord slot on the back of the PS2. you'd have to have someone open it up and make sure everything is connected properly

How to get Rock Band to work no the ps2

Hi! Here are the tips to get Rock Band work on the ps2: Clean the disc well. Run another disc in the PS2 for about 5 minutes, then try the Rock Band disc. Plug in a standard controller, navigate to the browser screen, and if the PS2 reads the disc, simply select it with the controller. Insert a copy of Rock Band Track Pack (PS2) and let it run until it gets to the Harmonix screen. Quickly switch this disc for the Rock Band disc, and reset the console. Insert the disc so that the "K" in Rock Band on is pointed at roughly 6 O'clock. If the disc isn't read, then open your PS2 and rotate the disc one hour to the right. Repeat this until it is working or until it is back at 6 O'clock. Be careful with your Rock Band disc as some of them barely work to start with, and you don't want to damage it more. Save your receipt because if it doesn't work at all you will want to return it. Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
