Check blue wire to bare ground.
Then check each wire to bare ground, with switch on and off.

SOURCE: Trying to connect a ceiling fan light kit.

Those connections sound OK ,, now you have to go to the canopy and see if all the wires for the fan/light are connected to a house wire. If there are two switches , then the blue fan wire would connect to the red wire .. it may be capped off in the ceiling. If there is only one control switch , then the blue wire from the fan will connect to the same ceiling wire as the black fan wire does.

Does the blue wires connect to the black or white wires? I cannot find the instruction booklet. Thanks

Hi, At the fan you'll have a black wire, blue wire, green wire and white wire.
In the ceiling you'll have a black wire, a white wire, and a bare copper wire. If you are using the same wall switch to turn on all of the power to the fan AND the light, connect as follows:
White at ceiling to white from fan
Black at ceiling to black and blue together from fan.
Bare copper wire at ceiling to green wire from fan.

When connected like this, the main power is from the switch, and the fan and light may be set by the pull switches on the fan.

We are installing a lighting fixture on our Casablanca 4944D Concentra. We can get current across the various wires, but can not get the light to turn on. The colors of the wires are blue, black, red,...

On ceiling fans, the blue wire is designated for the accessory light kit. If you are using the Casablanca kit, it should be wired with a matching plug that just, well, plugs into the fan.

If you are adding another brand of light kit, you only need to connect the blue wire (hot/common) to the black wire of the light being attached, and the white (neutral) to the white wire of the light being attached.

Your fan will not have a pull chain/switch for the light attachment, as that is normally supplied pre-wired and installed in the light accessory.

If in doubt about about the wiring, contact Casablanca for a manual showing what light kits are acceptable for adding onto your particular fan model.

Also, please turn off the power before connecting the light kit to the fan.

Hope that helps and best regards!

Ceiling fan

OK, the wires coming from the top of the fan are going to go into the junction box in your ceiling. Out of the ceiling, you should have a white wire, a black wire, and a green or bare copper ground wire. Make sure your power is off at the fan. Your wires coming out of the fan should be white, black, blue, and a green ground wire. Pull the wires through the top of your fan, and connect the white to the white in the ceiling, the black and blue wires from the fan to the black wire in the ceiling, and then connect your ground wires together. Make sure you use wire nuts and twist them firmly onto the ends of the wires. If you happen to have a red wire coming out of the ceiling as well, just put a wire nut on it and stuff it back into the ceiling box. The blue wire is what works your light kit, and the black is for the fan. Hope this helps you!

Casablanca Fan W21 Ceiling Fan

Hook the fan's wires up as follows: black = black (hot) white = white (neutral) green = green or bare copper wire (ground) red = not used, so cap off (hot) The red wire is for a light kit. You may have a second switch on the wall to control this. Usually, the ceiling fan will have a red with a green tracer wire that goes with the red wire. If not just cap the red wire off and don't use it.
