I have the same problem. I BELIEVE that the USB port from the deck is NOT powerful enough...I had mine playing an external 100gb Hard drive fine for 30 minutes for the first time....and then after that it would not stay on for more than say 30 seconds....

Unplug usb device....change the source to something other than usb...change it back to usb, then the error goes away and you can plug your usb device in again...but you will most likely get that error again.

I am working on getting an external power source for my external enclosures...but not sure how that will work out at the moment.

Yup...if you use an alternative power source for the usb device....it appears to work fine now. I have (bought from fry's electronics) an adapter now that plugs into my cig lighter and haven't had any trouble anymore.

I had the same problem. Unfortunately with the IPOD Unless you can give it extra USB power, it is unfortunately not enuff from the Kenwood's deck. I had ran a 100gb HDD in an enclosure...I thought great its working...worked fine for.....20-25 mins....
And started getting the USB Read Error...or something to that extent...I forget now. So I tried about 2 or 3 different enclosure that did not need extra power (or should not need extra power to run the drive, and no luck. So anyway I went to fry's and picked up a USB to Cigarette adapter and now all is well...The adapter cost me $10...
I have 3 external drives that now work. The only other thing that you might look at for the IPOD, is getting a cable that has 3 heads....

One going to the USB Port on the Kenwood, and then there's two more heads that split off the other tip one for the ipod and then it y's off to another usb, plug that into the USB power adapter from fry's and that might give you the extra power you need...( I can't guarantee this as I dont own an IPOD and probably never will unless someone gives me one for free.)

Apparently, this auxiliary input only works for a Kenwood CD changer or a sirius radio connection. At least that is my conclusion after finding the same problem. Let me know if you figured anything out on this.

Will the Kenwood KDC 1032 RCA outputs work with an ipod adapter similar to an aux output? If so, how?

Hi, if you are trying to get your I-pod to play through your car stereo, then you would need to have the RCA inputs, not outputs. If you connect your i-pod to the stereo outputs it won't work because both things are trying to push sound out of their outputs. If you connect the adapter to the stereo's inputs then it would work.

GENERATOR WILL RUN ABOUT TEN MINS WITH LOAD THEN QUITS

You may have a 'TEST" mode on your Generator. Ten Minutes is usually the duration of the 'Exercise' function of most units, so I'd like to determine what mode you are starting your generator in. Please comment.

it's a Canadian Kenwood.

I had the 925 purchased from Ebay, but I sold the car with it.
it's probably the ribbon wire broken between the face and the unit. I know that on Ebay some they use to offer a repair for these type of units.

with the unit in standby, press the menu key, use the joystick control to choose aux, and set the aux option to "on"...then press menu again to save...when you next switch on the unit, using the SRC button you can cycle through the available options...cd - tuner - aux..etc etc
