SOURCE: cnet CWR-854 does not work

You may be advised to use an RJ45 LAN cable to try the following, then use the wireless connection when all ais up and running. The default Login ID and Password is ?root? with password ?1234?. This Wireless Access Point?s default IP address is 192.168.1.253, You can reset this Wireless Access Point back to its default settings by clicking on Reset button, and then press OK button to confirm your decision. Note: you can also hold down the reset button on this Wireless Access Point?s panel for more than 10 seconds to reset its default settings back to factory default. If the reset doesnt work turn off router then on again first, but if the reset doesnt work, the router may need to be replaced.

SOURCE: no access to web based utilty

Seems like you need to verify that the web management interface is at the address your specified or that your PC is indeed wirelessly connected to the CWR-854.

The following suggestions assume you use Windows XP as your OS:

  1. You need to connect to the CWR-854 via a network cable (one end connected to your PC the other to a LAN port on the CWR-854) initially.
  2. You can try to access the web management interface at the IP address you expect, i.e. 192.168.1.1 or you can verify the IP address by finding the Default Gateway your PC is issued by the CWR-854 from:
  • Right clicking on the tray icon of the network connection, choose "Status" then click on the "Support" tab to see the Default Gateway.
  • OR click on "Start" then "Run...", type "cmd" then type "ipconfig" and read the Default Gateway value under the section for the "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection".
Use the Default Gateway value as the new address to use for the web based utility if it differs from what you expected.

How to use my Cnet CWR-854 Router as a wirerless antenna for pc.

You can't really use a router to connect to another router, you can sometimes use them as an "Extender" for range, but not as a WiFi card, they simply aren't made to operate that way.

I do not know how to lock my wi fi

I don't understand your term "lock". Do you want to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your system? Or, do you want to prevent someone from lifting it as in 'LOCK it to the radiator'?

Several things come to mind, you can turn off the "broadcast" feature, you can require a password for access, you can set your devide to allow only devices for which you have entered the MAC address. You can do any or all of these and maybe even more.

I recommend you get the free to evaluate version of Network Magic from Cisco. This is a teriffic network management program. I use the paid pro version and I love it.

get it at http://www.purenetworks.com/download/

In addition to security, NM helps you to share resources and to repair failed connections

I hope this helps
