If it's still wet, don't do ANYTHING until it drys out. May take a few days until it does. Putting in a warm, dry environment will help. Like on your dashboard on a warm day. After you know it's dry, plug in and see what happens. Worst case it doesn't work because of a short or corrosion. Best case it works. If there was a way to get the battery out that would be best. Then wait for it to dry out. If it doesn't work you may have to send back to Garmin for repair. Or replace it. Good luck.
well i guess its late, but every time one of my phones got wet i would take the battery off and dry it with a hair blower. ( the ones that women use to dry their hair). trust me , it works. just dont put it too close or it would burn it.
I had the same problem, so i kept taking the battery in and out and turning it on when the slider is down and after about 15 times it turned on but now the numbers dont work right like 4 is 1, 5 is 2 so post wat happens to yours
I helped a friend with a similar problem using the solution below, so I am sure it will work unless your phone has shorted out:
Remove the battery from the phone immediately -- preferably right after it had gotten wet.
Spray the phone liberally through the keypad and inside the battery compartment with a good brand of electronic cleaner such as "CRC QD Electronic Cleaner Quick Drying Formula". It is important for the cleaner to get into the phone to wash out any water and mineral residues as they can cause a short when you put the batteries back into the phone.
Allow it to drain and dry, or better, blow dry it with hairdryer set on cold, or turn upside down on your dashboard for a few hours. Do NOT put the batteries back in the phone while it is drying.
When your phone is completely dry, put battery back in and turn it on. If it does not come on, put it on the charger. You should see the indicator come on showing "Charging".
After a few minutes to a half an hour, try turning your phone on. It should work if nothing has shorted.
Believe it or not the phone is still possibly wet inside and its a very small amount of moisture shorting across something which is causing this spurious reading on the screen. There are a few ways to dry it out thoroughly, but I have always found the best method is to leave the phone on top of a radiator on a low heat setting for a couple of days and that usually does the trick. Please do not try to dry it out quickly by leaving it on a hot radiator or damage will surely happen to the phone. Good luck.
Normally the extent of the problem will depend on the amount of water seepage. I don't know the details of this particular phone but in general it is the moisture trapped under the keypad that can cause the problem. If you can open the keypad and run a hair dryer on low heat across for a few minutes that might help. It is also possilble the battery is discharged because of the drain of current due to water causing internal short circuits. Take out the battery, dry off the phone with hair dryer and put the battery in. Connect the charger and hope for the best. By the way I am not a phone technician.
i had the same issue when my phone got slightly wet. try taking everything apart (sim card, battery, back). let them dry out for a little bit then after like a day or two put the phone back together. turn it on it will be a white screen for a little bit but give it like 2 or 3 mins and if should come back. I did this for my phone cuz i really needed the pictures off it and it worked! hopefully if will work for you too. GOOD LUCK!
