Question about Canon i860 InkJet Photo Printer

Can't get anything to print

I haven't used this printer in probably about 18 months and it's been sitting in a closet the whole time. It used to work just fine, but now I can't get anything to print on it. I know my ink is low, but it's not telling me that that is a problem, and it doesn't even try to print (i.e. pull in the paper or make the usual pre-printing noise) it's like it's not receiving the jobs that I send and the printer queue just says there's an error and it didn't print Any suggestions?

My Canon printer green light is on, I hear the noise that something is happening, but the paper comes out blank it does not print what I want it to print, email or doucsuments. Help.l

I'm having the same problem as the person who wrote in January 2009. Nothing prints at all, and I've followed all the steps (aligning print head, deep cleaning, reseating inks). Whatever I print (file, web page) comes out blank. I've even removed the print head to clean it. Do I need a new print head? Isn't that too expensive to warrant trying to fix the problem? Should I just recycle the printer and start with a new one?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers first and go through those steps .. then try printing .. It sounds like you have a "connection" problem .. Possible cable and or port (i.e. USB / parallel)

Epson WF 7010 sitting for several months -- wont print black -- colors ok -- print did a firmware update whne put back in service

Inkjet cartridges dry out and fail when printers sit unused for extended periods of time. The black ink cartridge is probably no longer usable. Updating firmware won't have any effect on the issue.

Will not print black at all

Probably needs to be cleaned the black is usually the worst for this. see if you can get to the bottom of where you put the cartridges in and use a little rubbing alcohol adn a Q-tip to get the build up off the jets it won't hurt anything as long as you don't break anything. It may take a bit to get all the gunk, it can be very messy there. hope this helps

Restart after replace ink cartridge

my CX4800 has done the same thing. I ran the utilities dozens of times, replaced every cartridge and it feeds papers the print head moves like it's printing but nothing is imaged on the paper.
Searching the web is my last chance to fix it before i toss this 18 month old printer and never buy an epson again.

Having to clean ink cartridges before use

your cartridge is drying very fast if it is hardware ptoblem it means that cartridge parking is missing one of its part.

you may find it in side your printer it self.

No Yellow will print

If you haven't used it for a long time the ink may have dried up. You can try taking out the cartridge and letting it sit on an hot wet rag for a while to unclog the print heads. Try not to touch the copper contacts on the cartridge. If that doesn't work you may be out of yellow ink.

Black ink not printing

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.

Samsung LaserJet prints completely black pages

We had the same problem with our SCX but we replaced the Part #: SCX-4521D3 toner/drum and it worked fine after that. We replaced the starter cartridge with a 3000 print capacity cartridge.

HP inkjet 1100 not printing yellow

Well if you want to damage your printer use alcohol. But if you want to make it work then pull the cartridge from the printer and run hot water on a couple of paper towels leaving alot of hot water in the towels. Put some thing under them to keep them from staining your counter top and then set the cartridge down onto the hotwater towel and let the hot water melt away the dry ink and in minutes you may be printing again if this is what it is. Be sure and use a dry paper towel to wipe off the ecess wet before you reinstall the cartridge.

Black Printing

Possibly the printer head needs replacing. That's the actual black 'box' the inks fit in. I've generally found they last no longer than about 18 months. You can try cleaning the contacts with an alcohol pad before forking out the $50 odd dollars it costs for a new head. If you have some time on your hands you could also try reinstalling the drivers - http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=232&modelid=8740 Good luck
