Re: i get sound but no picture
When we experience a no video/display but with sound as if your logging
in at your default blade, try to disconnect all the cables including
the power cord and the audio video cable. (its the cable going from
your console or xbox 360 to your tv). Before you plug it back try also
to wipe the prongs or the metal part of the cables to ensure it has no
debris or anything that would mess up the connection. If your using an
HDTV make sure that the switch of your component cable is click on the
hdtv settings. if it still not working for you, try to use a different
cable and TV just to isolate the problem. If the issue still persist..
its the system that has a problem. Not exactly the hardware but it
would definitely the prongs at the back of the console. So, bring it
back to the retailer if its still in 30-days warranty or send for
repair to its authorized service center.

I don't think you can play the Kinect on an old Xbox 360, since the new Xbox comes with it. I'm not completely sure on this matter, but there is no possible way the Kinect can hurt your Xbox 360 since it is just hardware and external.
Have you tried the simple but effective, pushing the plugs in harder? And putting the 360 on its side so the disk tray opens forward and you basicly drop a disk onto the tray? And lastly have you tried pushing all plugs and everything in harder? into the t.v and 360?
This is a very common . The cause clearlyevident bellow.
The good news it that it can be repaired Permanently with a
proper X clamp mod , The hardwareresponsible (The X clamp)
is still currently being used in new and replacement units .
There is a good chance you DVD drive might have either a faulty motor or laser. In this case if you have any type of warranty you should use it but if you don't you'll have to purchase either a new XBox 360 or a new DVD drive.
The new DVD drive will not be able play games if you simply swap the drives. In order to have it play games you'll have to flash the old Key from the broken drive onto the replacement drive.
Either that or if your system is still under the 3 year warranty from RROD by Microsoft you can try to induce RROD on your XBox 360 and take up a claim with them. Most of the time they send u a refurbrished XBox 360 or a new one.
This problem is caused by your disc drive.... A new disc drive bought off of ebay, generally costs about 50 bucks, including the shipping and handling..... You will need to open your xbox to get the model number... yes, it does matter... Once you get the new disc drive... you need to open up the old disc drive... and you will see a memory chip inside and you will need to be VERY careful not to rip any of the parts it is connected to... once you have the chip out... you will need to take the chip out of the new disc drive, and replace it with the chip from your old disc drive... (each xbox 360 has its own unique memory, which can only otherwise be installed by flashing it through a sata computer which much more complicated than it really should be).... once you put the old chip into the new disc drive... put everything back together... for a tutorial on opening an xbox 360 and also fixing disc drive in your 360... i recommend youtube,,, and the person's name i recommend is "fixyourownxbox" These videos are definitely helpful, and saved me mucho dinero $ :D.... Good luck... if you have anymore questions, dont be afraid to ask... i would be more than happy to answer them
