If you just upgraded to Vista then you need to update your audio drivers.
go into the device manager and expand the sound, video and game controllers tree and update the audio driver for your audio device

Can Vista Home Premium be upgraded to window's 7?

If you're running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only upgrade to a 32-bit version of Windows 7. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only upgrade to a 64-bit version ofWindows 7. Otherwise, you'll need to use the Custom option to install Windows 7.

I used the backup now ez to take all my photos, etc off my desktop prior to upgrading from vista to windows 7 and now I cannot get it to restore back to my desktop. HELP!!!

This might be one of those programs that must be installed in order to work. I would imagine that you must install the program and have it do a restore.
Some programs keep a record of the backup on the hard drive. When you upgraded, the record might have been destroyed. If this is true, your backup software will have a utility to rebuild the index of the backup so it will work.

I upgraded my os to xp pro sp2 however drivers no longer work after the upgrade

thats a common probablem if you are upgrading your os.. because some drivers are not compatible to your os so you need to update the drivers by going to the manufacturers website of your hardware.... for example: "if your sound card is realtek then you need to go to realtek.com to download drivers".

I synced books to my ipod nano 2010, now when hooked to my computer, they say they are there, but I cannot find/access them on the ipod

There is one main reason why your experiencing this problem. 1. You need to configure POP3, SMTP IN outlook , express 2. Most email providers require that you have an upgraded account to allow email to be sent, recieved , forwarded to a third party for example, YAHOO requires a YAHOO PLUS account 3. Upgrading may allow you to send email directly from your desk top to include receive and send larger attachments such as photos, music, etc

I just installed ubuntu installed mp3 kodec

When you start your pc just after it listed your hardware, before starting the grub graphic of Ubuntu, press the esc key, and change your kernel using the arrow on your keyboard, to the previous kernel, as fare as i remember one the kernel was having a bug, just before i upgraded to Ubuntu intrepid 8.10, if you did not do the full upgrade, then go to http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/ and search for the latest kernel, my best advice is go to http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading and follow the steps base on your Ubuntu os, any problem come back to me richardicare@googlemail.com

Microsoft Outlook

This is most likely occuring because you are using Outlook 2003 with Office XP. If you have upgraded Outlook without upgrading the rest of the Office components, you can solve this by upgrading Office or downgrading Outlook.
