Question about Canon i9100D (Bundle) Photo Printer
I have just purchased a quad core Vista Premium 64 bit system. I have a Canon i9100 inkjet in another room connected to a Windows XP and set as a shareable piece of hardware.
I did have a Vista laptop with a 2.6 GHz single core processor prior to this and it found and attached to the printer without any problem.
Whenever I try to add a network printer in Vista 64 it sees my laser jet printer on the network but not the inkjet attached to the same printer.
The printer is on and the xp system is on when I try to attach to the printer.

Here is a lik to Canon's support page where you can download the driver you need for Vista (64).
Canon MP170 Support
Click on the "Drivers and Downloads" tab.
Select your operating system from the drop down menu.
Click on the file to download it to your computer.
Save it to your computer where you can find it after downloading. (Temp folder, for example.)
Remember not to connect the usb cable until prompted by the software.

yes easy to fix, just share your print driver give it a share name like canonmp780 on the pc it is connected to
then get on your laptop asuming its on your wireless network and in the start bar run this command. \\ your computer name one printer is connected to \ canonmp780.
so if your computer name is windows and your printer name is canonmp780 the run command will be: \\windows\canonmp780 hope this helps and really easiest way to connect to it.

Go there and try download the Drivers and Utility for the 64-bit Version of Vista. Pretty bad that HP's own website has the info you need, yet they say it won't work.

Sounds like you don't have the proper Vista x64 bit driver installed. It's different from both XP and standard Vista Drivers?
Get it here:

I don't think Vista is supported for this printer and if not doubt that it will be as Microsoft are bringing out a new OS to replace it.
