We can troubleshoot the Overheat issue but first we need to turn it on. Perform following steps and check if you can see the diplay on screen.
1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.
If the Notebook power up and shows you display, then proceed with further steps (or you can connect a desktop monitor to check if its displaying. Press Fn+F4 to toggle the display on external monitor)
The notebook may overheat and make noise or stop working due to the following conditions:
1. Due to incorrect power supply from the AC adapter.
2. If the Fans/Heat Sink are not working properly.
3. If the power management and BIOS settings are messed up in the Notebook.
4. Finally due to other components on the system board.
To resolve this problem with overheating, perform following steps.
I check your Laptop and see that your Laptop product number is "GA534UA#ABA" with Windows® Vista Home Premium pre-installed, if you are using the same, process with following steps.
Step 1: Reset the BIOS to factory defaults:
1. Click Start, Turn Off Computer, Restart.
2. When the HP logo appears, press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
3. Press F9 when you are in BIOS Utility to load the BIOS to default. Click YES. Then press F10 to Save & Exit.
Step 2:Re-install Power Management in Vista
1. Press Windows key + R
2. Type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
3. Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.
4. Right-click the ACPI Fixed Features button and select Uninstall.
5. Restart the system.
On restarting the system, Windows will automatically detect and install Power Management on the computer.
Step 3: Installing an update for BIOS:
Caution: Install this BIOS only if you are using pre-installed operating system with above mentioned Product number.

In case there is no display, remove and reseat the Hard Disk and RAM and check for the issue. If display comes up after removing and reseating the RAM and HDD, then you need to follow the above steps again.

NOTE: If you have more than one memory module, you should test them individually to determine if one or both of them are faulty. Insert each module separately, then turn on the notebook to determine if the inserted module is working. Once you have determined which memory module is faulty, you can replace the faulty module and reseat the working module.
