No, but they do pause when they detect that the headphone has been disconnected. If it's only moving slightly, something's wrong with the headphones or the ipod. Try another set of headphones.

The earphone jack connection produces sound in only one ear. Partially with drawing the jack produces sound in both ears. Clearly, the jack is not making a good connection once inside its 'port'.

Hi,
This is usually the result of faulty earphones. Try replacing the earphones you are using with the ipod and it should work normally.
Good Luck!

What cord do you need to plug the ipod into the karaoke machine

This depends on the karaoke machine in question. Mostly the Ipod accepts a 3mm earphone jack and the karaoke is supposed to support the regular av in 2 pin jack. so all you need to do is get the single 3mm headphone jack to 2 pin av in jack. that should work perfectly.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Is the earphone jack supposed to be VERY loose?

Unfortunately it sounds like you got a bad model. You'll need to return it for a replacement or repair work.

My ipod touch plays the music, but the lyrics are distorted. Tried different earphones, but it's still the same. If I move the plug a bit, it sometimes clears up.

Sounds like a bad headphone jack. Contact Apple at 1-800-275-2273 (1-800-APL-CARE) if it's under warranty. If not, find an iPod repair company to see if they can re-solder the headphone jack.

My itouch earphone jack creates static in earphones.

sounds like the typical ipod and ipod touch common situation. It seems to be the dreaded headphone jack on the bottom or top of the device has gone belly up. You can either take it to your local apple store or look online and search your problem and see if anyone else has the same issues you have and see what can be done. You can send it to ipodsquad.com to get repairs or check your local apple store.

Apple ipod mini 6GB earphone jack not working

The earphone jack is connected to the logic board, open up your ipod mini and see about replacing the logic board with one from ebay. Easy to do, just be careful.

Yes, if you changed headphones and it is still happening, it's almost surely a problem with your iPod's jack. I think the warranty is 1 year only, so you should get it repaired asap.

IPod Not Working

Hi,

Does your iPod come on? If not, your battery could be bad.

If you can see the music playing, but cannot hear anything, you could have a bad earphone jack or a bad circuit board.

You can tell if it is the battery the iPod will not come on at all unless it is attached to the computer or to a power outlet.

If you can move the earphone jack around while playing music and hear something, then it is the headphone jack. If you move the jack around and hear nothing, then I would suspect the circuit board.

If you have a device that can play your music out of the USB port on the iPod, you can make sure that it is the circuit board that way. When the circuit board is bad, music will not play out of the headphone jack or the USB port.
Hope that helps.
