Please try and reset the unit , check for fault in the settings . You can also remove the power and try a long reset and if after the boot there is no detection it is best to seek assistance specially if the unit is new as you can avail of free replacement warranty.
The connection to the glass is usually through a series of small conductive rubber strips around the perimeter (like a gasket). If the pressure on the rubber is released slightly, it may not touch the glass or the circuit board on the other side. The pressure is held mechanically when the assembly is clamped together. Liquids could short the rubber strips causing unpredictable display and touch screen operation. It would need to be dismantled and cleaned. Another possibility is the ribbon wire to the LCD assembly is loose or even cracked so the traces are broken apart in the ribbon. The LCD assembly is difficult to repair by dismantling. I wouldn't recommend it.
From inside Tomtom, have you tried "change preferences" then scroll through to "show GPS status" then "configure" select "Other Cable NMEA GPS" select "Done" for GPS baud rate of 4800. Now select "Serial Cable on SP2 and then "Done" Hope it helps. Philpot
I have had a aproblem with my digiwalker Mio, which also was freezing up. The only way to sort it is a HARD RESET. The problem in my case appears to be due to the start up program initiating GPS/Tom Tom at the same time.
Hi, to replace battery, you need to undo the 4 screws hold the back casing. When these are removed you can open the back, revealing the battery. There is a black plug that pushes into a white socket on the pcb, with 4 wires coming out of it that goes to the battery. Pull this plug out and the battery then comes free. Hope this helps.
