Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
My ps2 slim will play most discs sometimes you have to play with it to get it to spin but i can't get the new guitar hero world tour to play at all
The PS2 has a dual laser diode, one for DVD format, and one for CD format. Both use the same optics to focus on the media. Since you can get one disc to owrk and another will not, the issue is with the discs or one of the laser diodes. Determine is the discs that work are CD or DVD format. If the ones that work are all CD format, you need a new laser. Or vice versa, if all the ones that work are DVD format, you need a new laser. If it is mixed, you need to clean the optics or disc media surface.
Cleaning the laser lens is done by getting a Toothpick, and wrapping a small piece of paper towel around the point of the toothpick. Dampen the toothpick swab with a Windex type cleaner, and swab the lens. Use a dry toothpick paper towel swab to dry the lens.
The discs can be cleaned with a toothpaste that is not gritty. Dab toothpaste and add water, then use circular motions to clean up smufges and fine scratches. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
Contact Info@PlaystationClinic.com is you need to get a laser replaced.

The Game your playing is probably a Blue colored media. That is ones that spin so fast. You console has become dusty and loaded with lint probably. You can open the case and clean up the insides. Also while your in there, remove the ocver and polish up the lasers lens. This will probably get you back in business. If you do nto have success, contact me at Repairtech@ playstationclinic.com I run The Playstation Clinic at www.playstationclinic.com If you have a Slim Model it will cost more than the big model to repair. The slim model is $41 full refurbish including return shipping inside the USA. The big Fat PS2 Versions are $36 including return shipping.

First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.
There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.
