To replace lid switch unplug unit remove two screws for acess panel(runs at angle between washer and dryer)after removing acess panel you should see two 5/16 head screws holding the washer top down (at rear of top) take out these screws top should slide forward .unscrew the two phillps head screws holding switch to the top replace switch then work backwards to complete

I need to replace lid switch on Whirlpool Thin Twin washer/dryer unit. How do I get the switch out and the new one in

The 3 screws across the front of the slanted panel need to be removed, then the panel. At the left and right rear of the main washer top are 2 5/16" screws, these need to be removed, there is a loose fitting steel clip through a slot on the main top these are holding down, when the 5/16" screws are removed slide the entire top forward and it will release from the front fixed clips. Unplug the lid switch unit and the main top can be set aside to replace the switch. Pleazer Appliance...

I have a electric whirlpool thin twin. It fills with water and agitates...then nothing. No drain, or spin.

check the lid switch, open the lid and on the right side you'll see a hole in the top panel, stick a screw driver in it,push down, you should hear a click,or close the lid and open it a couple of inches and close it,do this a few times,no clicking sound bad lid switch.

It's heavy duty thin twin model. The cycle stops at spin and water stays in the mashine.

When it gets to the SPIN cycle, wait 45 seconds. If it does not spin, open then close the lid.
If it spins then, replace the timer.
If it does not spin, replace the lid switch.

Whirlpool thin twin stacked, won't agitate or spin

whirlpool washers have a drive coupling in between the motor and the transmission to replace this remove the top and disconnect the lid switch set it aside remove the front panel then remove the 2 clips that hold the pump on then push it out of the way then remove the 2 screws that hold the motor clamps on and then remove the upper and lower motor clamps remove the motor then replace the three piece "motor coupling" one piece goes on the motor the other three pronged plastic piece goes on the transmission and the rubber isolator goes between them and now just put every thing back together

Whirlpool Thin Twin Washer - does not drain water. I have replaced lid switch and water pump.

MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION ON THE TOP PANEL FOR THE LID SWITCH IS GOOD. ON OCCASION WHEN THE TOP PANEL IS SLID BACK IT CAN BEND THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FEMALE END ON THE CONNECTION. HOPE THIS HELPS

Whirlpool thin twin problem

First be sure you're getting power to the motor this could cause both problems. If getting power then
sounds like you have 2 problems.
Dryer
On the heating problem be sure you have 220 volts at the power block, check the heating element , thermostats & high temp cutoff with an ohmmeter. Also check the centrifical switch on the motor it keeps the heat off for safety till the motor is up to speed so the fan is working.
Washer
Check lid switch some machines won't do anything but fill with the lid open . To check lid switch push the the switch down with a small screwdriver. If switch is ok check the coupler between the motor & transmission it can cause no agitate or spin. If all these are ok you may have a transmission problem. Last resort may be timer or wireing.
