Question about Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Web Cam

1 Answer

Granny2dll apparently installs in the wrong place

I try to install the QC9000 and the default directory for the device puts the granny2.dll file into "a system directory" rather than an "application specific directory".

I am also running a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, for whatever that might be worth.

Any ideas about how to get past this?

Thanks.

Normal 0 Probably has corrupt driver.
Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Then to use it on the Web do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
C. Windows Live Messenger:
  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have a lorex wl2101 and am looking for a driver for this os xp i have asked lorex and am awaiting responce but if any one knows would love to know chars pompey geezer

The Lorex WL2101 is actually an OEM wireless camera also branded as the Swann ADW-300. You can obtain the driver by downloading the software that comes with their version, from the swannsecurity website, in the directory:-

www.swannsecurity.com/downloads/drivers/ADW300

I downloaded the 'ADW_300_USB_Software_v2_0225.exe' file, installed it, navigated to the program directory, copied 'Driver.exe' to a safe place, then uninstalled the software.

The uninstaller should ask you if you want to 'uninstall a shared file', this is the device driver so keep it. If you need to re-install the driver, just open the .exe file.

I did have a quick look at the shareware software installed and it seems to do a good job. You can remotely control all of the receiver's functions from it, including the ability to switch to any of the four cameras wirelessly connected to it, digital PTZ, and motion triggered recording.

I am having trouble changing the default "save" directory on the

The default 'save' directory for Livecam is fixed as: My Documents\My Pictures\LIvecam Files on C: drive.
However, you CAN change the location of My Documents e.g. put it on D: drive. See the MS Knowledge base for how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310147

I had the same problem too and tried all kinda solution I cud find on the net for ages... The solution is simple...but windows dont give the exact problem description.
Infact...in Device manager, u miss a category called "Imaging device".To get that section back and put ur cam to work download the file "sti_ci.dll" from here.
Extract it, and copy the file to "C:\Windows\System32\" folder and connect back ur cam.Yo get get windows saying device is installed and ready to use. That worked for me. If it worked for u, please post it on other forms to help people who r still trying to look for a solution.

Webcam help

Check that your usb ports are functional by plugging in another known good working device, mouse, etc. Most devices want you to install the CD before you connect the hardware. When it's asking you for the drivers, be sure you point it manually to the folder on the disk with the .INF files. The INF file tells the computer what DLL and System files to load to use your device. Check under the Device manager to see that the device is installed all the way or if it has a question mark on it saying something is wrong.
