Remove the battery from the laptop. Wait a minute then reinstall. It should reset, if not then hold down the start button for 10 seconds and it should reboot, if it reboots sooner remove your finger from the botton. That is the quick fix to a simple problem, hopefully it will work for you otherwise it will require moe work, good luck, Gym

One of the bad things that happen with lap tops I have observed owning them is they do get hotter than usual, they make a lap USB fan for them which since I have recommended to all of my clients there seems to not be as many issues with heating anymore. Lap tops are designed with protective measures in the BIOS when built to shut down then they get to hot.
A good feature so the cooler your lap top runs the less it will shut down. Also go into the power options settings when you reload and set this to the factory settings and only change the power side that is when it is plugged in only leave the battery settings where they are. I hope this assisted you. Fix this before it becomes a serious issue. Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. John

When I push the power button to power the lap top up the light display that says outlet power changes from green to amber and the laptop will not power up.

try removing the battery and just use plug power only if it boots normally then change the battery and the change the power supply unit as well I would just start with the power supply unit first then see if the battery charges up if not the battery is bad replace it. Now if the computer will not start with the battery removed then you have a power supply issue.
Change and replace it. Hope this helps. Also when computer lap top get hot they will shut down to protect the computer wait and let it cool down then try to restart your computer. If this does work and the lap top restarts normally get a fan cooler that is USB powered and the lap top sits on top of it. Also make sure the fan is running and is not stopped. Clean and dust it out once in awhile. I hope this assists you with your problem. John

My usb slots do not recognize any usb device

Hello

On alot of lap tops the power saving features are pretty harsh, so please check those first. Then reboot your computer and I bet your usb will be back on.

Most windows users can hit the START BUTTON, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL and POWER OPTIONS...

I hope this helps

Shutting Down my LAP TOP

Check in your bios for the power settings - your laptop is likely set to wake on lan or some other hardware. Also, check in the windows power management for the settings in there.

Acer Aspire 3610 plugged in closes down

I would suggest you just plug it in and do not power on the laptop for a few hours. Then try. If it persists reboot into safe mode and disable hibernation then reboot

Toshiba Satellite M45 Power Problem

Hi,

Your concern (auto shutting down) with Toshiba could be caused by excessive power drain by some of the attached devices such as the WiFi, LAN among others. On the other hand, it could also indicate that the battery is already weak and constantly requires charging and at times eats up most of the power from the adapter leaving nothing for the motherboard to use. In some repairs I have done, switching off / or removing entirely unneeded devices correct the problem. In some instances, auto shut down is caused by dirty/clogged airducts/heatsink of the processor, failing blower/fan and/or poor ventilation.

Of course, it could not be ruled out that internal problem with the power supply/regulator to have caused the shut down. Alternately, there are some viruses and malwares that could trigger shutdowns.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
