Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My Fujifilm S1500 will not connect to my computer. The fine pix program is loaded and the camera will show "usb" on screen when connected, but the program or my computer will not find the camera.

Restart the computer. Connect the camera (switched off) to the computer with the lead, do this directly, not through any USB hubs. Turn the camera on to the 'view pictures' setting. The computer should see it. Check in 'My Computer', it should have added it as a storage drive, and you should be able to access the files directly. I always find this method better than using the Finepix program. Hope this helps.

Screen goes black when a/v cord connected

I had a bad cable on mine. Once you plug the cord in the camera controls will appear on the screen. If you get a hold of Sony they can get you a new one.

You might be able to find a new one at a computer store depending on what connection goes to the back of you camera to get it to work (like a mini jack).

If you can display pictures in playback mode but screen is black in capture mode then the CCD sensor has stopped working and needs replacing.
