When turning it on, access light comes on briefly, and then everything goes off. Originally, after a few tries, it would come on and you could take a few picturres, but if you turned it off, it would not come back on for many many tries. Now it will not come on at all. The Access light blinks briefly the turn-on sound is heard, then everything shuts down.

Tried to turn on with various settings but nothing gets it on.

I had a similar issue with my camera. I took the cover off and found that there was a layer of something that looked like sand around the lens assembly. I cleaned it up and it seems to be working again

I have a sony dsc-s90. It will work fine for 3 - 5 min. and then a black screen will appear with "turn power off and on again". Once done, it happens again.

Usually a lens sensor. Clean with maybe some compressed air. If you trust your skills you could open the unit and clean cabinet where the lens retracts and extends.

When i turn off my camera sony cyber shot DSC-S90 the zoom wont retract and a word appear in the screen turn off and on again..any idea what's going on with it?

Sounds like you have some grit or gum on the lens barrel. This will cause the lens to stick in the partly closed position. Clean the lens barrel and try again. A rag moistened with methylated spirits may be needed. The rag must not be wet as we must not harm the special grease used in the lens.
If this fails it probably means an very expensive repair, or replacement.

My camera is writing on disply" Turn the power off and on again....

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

Your camera has problem in Lens mechanism. If Lens doesn't open properly, camera will not show picture at all. There would be Loading Motor section demaged in Lens mechanism and it needs to be replaced to work camera OK.
Now come to blue screen in playback mode, This model doesn't have internal memory, so you need memory stick/ card to see previously taken pictures.

Hey Gregorious03,
You could try removing the batteries for at least one minute and then reinserting them, or you could try initializing the camera back to the factory settings under the setup menu. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
