I've got an ML 638B with 1 GB and with only 10 MB of songs installed, it says it's full. Seems I'm short 990 MB.

my player was fine until today now it shows 99% full with only like 20 songs. my sister has the same mp3 player and hers was fine til 5 mins ago it showed 23% full now it says 99% full too. It her second one of this type to do this and it is frustrating. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

Two Gigs is 2048 Bytes, which is then formatted (Fat32) and loaded with approximately 20 Mb of Software. When you connect it to your computer and view it as a mass storage device, it tells you that there is approx, 1.832 Gb of free space, because that it is how much of the 2 Gigs still free. The software can be downloaded from GPX.com product support page. the download is 19.3 Mb. That might mean that after you have installed them on your comnputer you could erase them off of the players drive and pick back up most of the shortage. Probabbly when you have to reformat the drive and reload all of your stuff again, you might notice slightly larger usable space. I'm just getting mine loaded now, and haven't had any issues. But the warnings on the sheet that came with it about changing some setting and having to reformat the drive before the player would play again, due to copy writes, and the fact that they include applications for reformatting, and flashing firmware. I Get the feeling that the fix for many of the problems you might encounter is reformatting. Hopefully it is as easy and as fun as it sounds.
