I would only us the Garmin charger. Why take a chance. They are fairly cheap. Plus you need the car charger since that's where you use it most of the time. The batteries don't last all that long.

Garmin nuvi 260 battery does not hold a charge

If a wall powered charger is used it could be bad or the connection from it to the unit damaged---happens if the charger is connected/disconnected a lot----same thing can happen if using the lighter plug adapter for charging.

bad battery or voltage not reaching from the charger--I would test for voltage first from charger or if using lighter adapter the fuse in it.

garmin are very fussy about there chargers if its the original charger then there is a fault with it if its not the original then get one ( you can only use genuine garmin chargers for garmin gps units) they have a clever sensor in them that stops you from using any other type of charger

Garmin nuvi 260w is not charging with car charger

You have a short in the wire that runs to your unit. Other than holding the wire in the exact location until your charge is complete you would be better off replacing the charging cord. They should be available at your local shop for around $19-$29.00.

My i3 takes forever to find a satalite why

1) most times it is because your battery is not fully charged. Use an AC charger rather than just the DC car charger, which does not fully charge the unit.

2) Interference from heavily tinted or thermo window.

3) Electrical interference from overhead lines or too close to other electronic devices ...phone.. cd player etc.

Turn it off and Always unplug it when you're done with it.
That's assuming you have a live plug (stays on when car turned off)

Nuvi 260w no power.

Yes, you need to charge it. USE the charger that came with it for best results. Some off brand chargers will NOT work.
You plugged it into your car and nothing? Even if the batteries are bad it should still work. Is it the Garmin charger?

Garmin nuvi 260w not operating while plugged in

If you are trying to use your unit in the car via the USB port and not the supplied cable, it will not work. You must use the bracket that came with the unit or the specific charger that came with the unit. The pins in the Garmin USB charger only use two pins whereas a regular charge cable uses 4.
