Installing New Graphics Card. How do you disable the onboard GC?

To disable the onboard graphics go into your CMOS settings and in there you should find something that says Graphics choices should be onboard or add on or some other form. It all depends on who made your BIOS. As far as a sound card not sure.

Why do you need to disable the onboard video??

If you have added a new graphics card it should automatically select this new card.

If it doesnt, you can go in to the bios and disable the onboard graphics card from there.

For example, Onboard graphics can usually be refered to in the bios as PCI, so if you've added an AGP card or PCI-E card then you would just need to select either one of these from the bios menu.

Not sure what bios your using but it may even have ann option to disable onboard graphics.

For user BIOS21 & julio1963,

Enter you're bios. Open you're user manual to page 3-13. Integrated Peripherals. Go to, Init display first. Set to AGP.
(Not to PCI). That is all you need to change. The MSI bios will than see you're add in AGP card & automatically disable the PCI S3 graphics, (Onboard) card.

Enjoy!
If I can help you further, feel free to post here.
Please, each user's vote this issue as a fix, if this helped you to get you're bios to see you're new AGP graphics cards.
