Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Hd connection for wii

I have bought the Wii component cable to connect my Wii to an HD tv. However, there are no instructions with the cable, and I don't know which cable to connect to which socket.

The cables are coloured red, white, red, blue, green, but I don't know which ones are video, and which are sound.

The Wii is not a HD output source. It only displays 480p. If you wish to connect an HD source, you must connect through an HDMI cable or a component Cable. HDMI is better.

Can i use a normal over the counter HDMI cord or is there a "special" Wii HDMI?

Hi, the Wii does not strictly have an HDMI connection but the closest thing to it is a Component cable. This has 5 connections and is as close to HD as you can get without a full HD connection. Make sure your TV has component connections on it as well if you do purchase one. They can be bought for around £5 off of places like ebay.

Hope this helps

We bought a new samsung 32" flat screen TV. Our HD cable box is connected to the tv using the red/yellow/white cables. Is there an alternative way to connect my Wii without unplugging the HD box...

You'll need to purchase an HDMI cable and use that to connect your hd box to your tv. Your tv should have several HDMI connections on the back to facilitate the hookup and you will not have a true HD picture without that cable. You can buy this cable from the same place you bought your tv or www amazon.com as well as many other electronics supply stores, hardware stores, or places like Kmart, Walmart, Bimart, etc. You can also buy a multi port Rh connector box that you can run multiple components through and just push the corresponding button for the component you wish to operate.
Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

I just bought a new plasma tv. I cannot seem to

You Plasma TV is probably an HDTV, which means you need to change the settings on your Wii to HD. Just go to the Wii menu and modify the TV settings. If you don't want to do that, make sure you connect your RCA cables to the non-HD slots on your TV so that the yellow RCA cable is in the yellow slot and not the green HD slot.

Nintendo Wii AV Cables not work

It could be a problem inside the Wii where it only outputs a signal through HD. Have you tried a different TV using the original cables? If the problem persists I would recommend calling Nintendo.
