This type of card reader is powered from the usb table so you will need to look for a usb header on the motherboard to plug it into. The header will be a 10 pin header ( but pin 10 is missing! ) so it is top row 4 pins, bottom row 5 pins, from left the connections are red, white, green, black, & no connection.
The power plug used to connect the card reader is the power plug normally used to power the floppy disk drive. come back to if problems still persist ? compdoctor2005@btinternet.com

Approx. 5yrs old. Thought I had a place for a memory card. Bought a Sony digital camera. Help!

You can buy a memory card reader (at Amazon.com or ebay.com) and it will have a usb plug. Simply put memory card into reader and plug into computer.

It will work as I just said, but ''technically'' you plug in the reader first into the computer, and _then_ insert the memory card into the reader. (but it will work if the memory card is already in the reader before plugging it in).

You can buy a simple one that only reads the specific memory card you have, or you can buy one that reads ''multi'' different type memory cards.

Can't delete old pictures

It depends on the brand or model of camera you are using, but if you cant get how to delete a picture from your camera, simply get a card reader, then remove the memory card of the camera and insert it into the card reader, connect the card reader with your computer, so from your computer you will be able to delete old picture. But I still know that most digital cameras should be able to delete old pictures, simply read your camera manual to see how to delete or you tell me the model and brand of the camera that you are using.

New memory card for phone cant format with out unknown code

Hello Tuna Heads

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

    Possible to upgrade?

Any system can be upgraded, just depends on how much money you want to spend, and what format you wish to choose. Systemax systems were not bad systems. New motherboards (MB) allowing the latest CPU, and memory configurations are possible in any box, providing the power supply can handle the load. What type of OS comes into play, as unix based alternatives are growing daily with users exploring that option. Most of the world uses Microsoft OS's, and yes your system can but upgraded to use Vista if need be. I build PCs and normally use a brand new box to start with. State of the art gaming or business apps, your system is already out dated the minute it was made. New this or that comes out at top dollar. Is it necessarry to have every option and gadget? Usually not, so tell your builder what you plan to do with the PC and let them put together the machine built to YOUR liking. Hard Drives are light years from the 10 MB behemoths of the 80's, the terabyte drives of today are under $100. If the data is on your old hard drive, it can be ported over to the new system so you don't lose the precious pictures of you and yours from way back when. It comes down to what you want and what options are available at the time you make up your mind. Chances are, if money isn't a question, you'll end up with a new machine. You can get the data off the old PC, and then can give your old system to a friend or relative and they can learn on it. Or you can gut the old systemax box and put in new power supply, dvd burners, MB, memory, CPU, TB HD, new multi option a: drive with card readers, the latest in graphics cards. All the buzzes and whistles, liquid cooling if you so prefer. What ever floats your boat, just comes down to how much money you want to spend and how elaborate you want your system. But to answer your question, anything can be upgraded.

    No Audio

    Hello,

I have a friend with a systemax, same thing happened to him.

Go into the control panel, select sounds and audio devices, go over three tabs to the audio tab, make sure the sound default device is the onboard audio card. Should be all set.

Let me know how it works out.

I just bought a Dane-Elec 8 GB SDHC memory stick. Put it in a Belkin card reader [a few years old but the stick fit in] but kept saying not responding My program is XP I tried to put in my Epson Photo...

SDHC cards are secure digital cards, and may not be supported by some hardware. Please check your manual for the card reader and printer. If the card reader is a few years old it may not support it. The printer on the other hand could be a limit on card size. I have seen a lot of equipment that only supports up-to 2GB cards.

    Card Error

Hi, On another brand/model, PC message "card error" indicates a problem with the memory card of the camera. A couple of things we tried to restore it: 1. Remove the memory card, wipe clean especially the gold contacts making sure that it is dry and shiny (also the battery if possible); 2. Blow into the opening/slot where the memory is inserted to remove any dust, dirt or even a bit moisture; 3. Let the camera and removed memory card sit for a while at room temperature; 4. Put everything back and try again; 5. If it still doesn't work, it is possible that for some unknown reasons, the memory card was corrupted. This would mean re-formatting it but of course that would mean erasing whatever pictures and/or data are stored inside; 6. Try a recovery software with a card reader to try and recover whatever is possible and format the card; 7. It is preferable to format the card using the camera rather than the PC; Sometimes just removing and reinserting the card works. Hope the above gives you an idea or two. Pls post back how things are or if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
