Question about Mitsubishi WS-55909 55" Rear Projection Television

The color is not working properly on the TV. The red is off.

When you watch a DVD the color is OK. I have checked and the 3 colored bulbs are are still coming on.

In discussing with Mitsubishi they had me trouble shoot the cable input line and determined that the color would work in the antenna A and B ports. Mitsubishi believes the scrambling of the cable box is cauing the problem with the normal hook up but I would need to discuss with the cable company. At least I know the color is working properly on the TV.

How do you connect the dvd player to the lcd

On the dvd player and the tv you will see three (or more) colored connectors. These are color coded yellow, red amd white. One is for audioleft, another for audio right, and the third is video. You can get the cable with the colors so all you need to do is plug the ends into the same color connectors.
thats about as complicated as it gets. Then you need to look at your tv and select source or antenna. That tells the tv where the signal is coming from. you watch your movie and flip the source back to cable or where it finds your normal tv stuff.

You can get the cabes almost anywhere these days. the dollar store around the corner here sells them cheaper than the tv or electronics stores. I think the larger grocery stores even have some. So you don;t need to worry about spending a lot to get good ones. Very little difference in reality. Only thing is to make sure you get it long enough so you can put the dvd where you want or need to and try to get the 3 cable wih color coded ends.

My tv color is missing red and the people look

It sounds like you have a bad or broken COAX, or S-Video cable. Replace whichever you have. Or first just wiggle the COAX or S-Video cable and see if the color comes in proper.

The color on the screen is green when I watch movies. How do I fix this problem?

Good day sir, your inquiry about the green lcd screen can be caused by several things. 1. The monitor/tv produces 3 colors, red green and blue, the tv mixes these three colors to produce the picture. a loss of red and blue produces this green screen. so check the cable, specially the red and blue jack of the component inputs, and the red and blue cable. 2. there may be loose contact on the signal cable. try using the video input instead of the component input. 3. the dvd player may have the problem, check the player component out jack. a loose jack port can cause these problem. hope this may help. thanks

Dvd color is off

Depending on how it is configured to your TV it could be high contrast with the TV. One thing you might want to try is replacing the video cable if you have a spare. If you are using an RF modulator and watch DVDs on Channel 3, you might want to replace the coax line between the box and the TV set.

DVD plays only in black and white

Hey, I had this problem on Thanksgiving Day, trying to watch a dvd on my mother's HDTV. You should be able to hook up most standard dvd players to hdtvs. First you have 3 cords, mine were red, yellow, and white. The connections go as follows:

HDTV:
Audio| Component. The white cord should be in a white audio slot. The yellow cord should be in a yellow component slot (video) and the red cord should be in a red video component slot labeled Pr/Cr. Make sure you match the component numbers. For instance, if you want to use component one, then hook all of the cords into the slots for component one. Most hdtvs have multiple component hookups ( think multiple "channels" for your game system, dvd player, etc) so it's important that the corresponding cords go to the correct component slots.

DVD:
Match the yellow and white cords to the appropriately colored slots. The red cord should go into the slot labeled component video out Cr/Pr. Not the red audio out. This worked for me. Hope this helps.

Confused about Connections

Bob, you can do this, grab 3 rca cables, 1 yellow 1 red 1 white.
the holes on the back of the dvd are colored coded, you guessed it yellow ,red, white, plug the cables into the matching colored holes, your done with the dvd player, now take the other end of these 3 cables and guess what the plugs on the back of the tv are the same color code as well, take a flashlight and find the 3 colored holes marked " input 1" stick the yelloe cable in the yellow hole , red in red hole, white in white hole, turn on dvd player & tv, grab your remote for the tv and find the input button and push it until the screen show "vid1" or "video 1", input 1 what ever yours says and you`ll be watching your dvds. Mitsubishi 55" big screen TV powers down after 70 secs We had a power outage in the neighborhood, after which our Mitsubishi 1080 HDTV WS-55909 only had a blinking green light on the front (no variation or pattern), even after the set was powered down. Upon reading online, it appeared the DM module capacitors were the likely culprit, so I sourced (7)1000 microfarad capacitors and replaced them, then reassembled the TV. This was the first time I'd soldered on a circuit board, so of course a lot of things might have gone wrong. However, after that the TV now powers up, but I only have a blue screen and cannot get the remote to work except to power the TV on and off (tried changing batteries in remote, reprogramming remote per setup manual, etc). Further, the TV powers off after 1 min and 15-20 seconds. I then tried to see if I could get any of the attached devices to work on their own with no other devices on except the TV. Each of them yielded a blue screen (X-Box, VCR/DVD recorder, Wii, cable) except the DVD player -- which displayed a great picture! The problem is the DVD will play 1 min 15 seconds then the TV will shut down and the green light will blink steadily (no pattern) for 60 seconds, then power down. And this only works if the DVD is on before the TV is turned on, and since the remote doesn't work I have to press "play" on the DVD player. The DVD is hooked to Component Input 2 so that input appears to be working fine. The VCR/DVD recorder is attached to Component Input 1. When I had it powered up and turned on the TV, I got a blue screen. However, when I left the VCR/DVD on and then turned on the DVD, there were jagged lines on the TV for 3-5 seconds, then the TV made a popping sound and shut off. When I then turned on the TV (i.e., with both the VCR/DVD and the DVD on first), the DVD worked but could not switch to the VCR/DVD without the TV turning off. I also tried switching the cabling for the DVD to Component Input 1, but the DVD no longer worked. When I tried the VCR/DVD on Component Input 2, it still only yielded a blue screen. So is Component Input 1 bad? And why would the TV work with the DVD in Component Input 2 but not the VCR/DVD? Obviously I have multiple problems here. The first one to deal with is the TV shutting off after 1.25 minutes. I am unable to see where I can get an error code when the blinking light just blinks quickly without any pattern, and neither the front panel controls nor the remote control work. Perhaps most of my inputs on the rear of the TV don't work now except Component Input 2 but I don't know how to test this. So I made a little headway with the capacitor replacements, but not sure what I can do at this point. Any suggestions? I've seen references for other Mitsubishi big screens that shut down like this, and the fix was related to the output power module, but not sure if it applies the the WS-55909. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. estout7
