Magellan Map 330 flash memory corrupted ****************
With the Magellan Map 330 connected and power on presssing and holding esc, Go_to, Power buttons simultaneously does not bring up "software upload mode active" -- instead the screen says "Unit currently contains no maps -- initiating map upload" -- when unit is disconnected from computer and esc, Go_to, Power are presssed simultaneously the screen does not change. When power is turned on the same window ("Unit currently contains no maps -- initiating map upload") appears -- this is the only window that the unit -- will show -- To turn the unit off requires removing the batteries

  • remullen Dec 27, 2008

None of the buttons work -- to turn the GPS off I have to remove the batteries. After replacing the batteries the power button turns it on -- then none of the buttons have any effect. -- So then -- how do I reset the device? Additionally where do I get the lattest software update -- there is nothing on the Magellan website.

  • remullen Dec 27, 2008

    I don't see a reset on the side --

  • remullen Jan 01, 2009

The problem is solved -- the reset instructions did not work, but taking all the suggestions together and trial and error the upload software window appeared allowing me to upload the program and then upload the maps.
    Thanks

The M- 330 also has another 8 megabytes of "flash" memory available for uploading detailed street maps, waypoints and routes from Magellan's new MapSend Streets CD-ROM (sold separately). If Your Flash card is corrupted you can either connect to a PC and reformat the Flash CArd , Details given below on how to setup the software after Format.

Instructions for Loading MAP330 Software NOTE: YOU MUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW EXACTLY OTHERWISE YOU MAY CORRUPT YOUR UNIT’S FLASH MEMORY. YOU WILL LOSE ALL WAYPOINTS, ROUTES AND TRACK POINTS AFTER EXECUTING THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
1.) First Locate the latest software for the M330 on the Magellan website. (If you know an update is available, but you do not find it listed, you may want to contact magellan by eMail. Or phone 1-909-394-5000.
2. Connect MAP 330 to the PC using the PC cable.
3. Make sure the unit has good batteries or is connected to external power.
4. On the unit, press and hold ESC, GOTO and Power keys simultaneously until “Software Upload Mode Active” comes up on screen.
5. On the PC, make sure to have unzipped the supplied file and all unzipped files are placed in the same directory. Type at the DOS prompt:
GEN4UPNB /COMy ZORROxxx.SRE
Where y after COM is the COM port number and xxx after ZORRO is the software version number.
6. Press Enter. The PC will show WAITING FOR UNIT RESPONSE for a few seconds and then erase status followed by programming status. Wait until programming status is 100% Complete. The unit will turn off automatically.

Hi Full Reset to original factory status May cure many problems

Why will my Magellan not go past the opening screen ??

There may be several reasons why the device does not move past the Magellan logo screen. Unfinished map/software update, corrupt file, or an issue with the device flash memory. Magellan supports several models by reloading the device software by sending you a link to wipe the device clean. Please contact them through chat at http://www.magellangps.com/support .

Mi gps ask me to inser sd card, not showing maps!!

On these units maps are definitely on the SD card. I presume you have the card? If so, then the card and map data may be corrupt. If you don't have the card, contact Magellan, and see if you talk them into a replacement for a small fee. Many Manufacturers consider SD Card replacement as a "map upgrade", and will therefore charge more. I hope you get it worked out. Thanks, Bill

Magellan Maestro 4250 2008/2009 Map Update will not update my GPS

I also had problems with a refurbished Magellan 4250. The paperwork inside said to install the 4.85 firmware update which I found would not work with Windows XP Home at least for me. I used my laptop which has Vista Ult 32 bit it updated with no problem that is so far the only solution I used.

Map update for the 3250

I would avoid map updates from Magellan like the plague. They have a strange way of frying the units. Unless you want to be without your GPS and fighting with Magellan for months, leave the map software the way it is.

Help me please

I had the same problem caused by reformatting the internal memory and this is what I did which worked for me:

Make sure you remove any SD memory cards before trying this fix.

First: find the base maps (NA_BSMAP.mgi and NA_BSMAP.nlt)maps which are located in your computer in the Magellan Roadmate Manager (C:\ProgramFiles\Magellan\Magellan RoadMate Manager NA\Map\Basemaps)

Second: Connect your Roadmate with the USB cable to your computer.

Third: Plug in USB and power up your GPS. Cut and paste the two files mentioned above to your GPS (Devices with Removable Storage (example E:/). They are approximately 25 MB in size and will take a few minutes to copy.

Fourth: Unplug the USB cable and shut power off to the GPS.

Fifth: Power up the GPS and it should find the "base maps".

Good luck!!
