McAfee detects "one time system change" daily--am I hijacked?

I've got an emachines home computer running McAfee firewall/virus protection, connected to internet through comcast broadband. Noticed computer going slow in recent months--especially when McAfee downloads virus updates. So I went to event logs in McAfee and see that there are daily notices that "system guard allows a one time change to computer" Reviewing details these are all for Sunkist process, program Digital Media Reader/readericon45G.exe and occur right after virus protection system is enabled.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Not so sure that's the case. After checking a few other sites, I found a thread that suggested malware can mimick the Sunkist digital reader program. I then checked my program files and found it had not been used/modified since 2006. So I decided to uninstall the program. After I did that, the McAfee still allowed a one time change for readericon45G.exe. Looks strange to me

Readericon45g.exe is a process installed alongside Sunkist media card readers and provides additional configuration options for these devices. This program is a non-essential process to the running of the system, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

noting to worry about.

Readericon45G.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files". The file size on Windows XP is 139264 bytes.
The file is not a Windows core file. The application can be uninstalled in the Control Panel. Program starts upon Windows startup (see Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run). The program is not visible. Therefore the technical security rating is 32% dangerous.

Yahoo mesenger is not sign in and connectiong with net due to virus problem

I would fix the virus problem first before attempting to log into yahoo messenger. If you have a virus you need to quarantine it. If you have a anti-virus make sure it's up to date. Run the a scan on your pc and do a window's update. The anti-virus should be able to quarantine the virus or give you an option to do so.

Virus Troubles

1, get Real Anti Virus Protection. Norton or McAfee. 2 all is not lost. McAfee offer several solution in what they call Stinger. Norton will scan the computer before it tries to install and will remove your problem files as will McAfee. This is basically a bogus add someone clicked on that allowed it to install and until you get it gone it's going to keep popping those false adds up trying to get you back to the hack site that gave them to you to begin with. Download Stinger from McAfee for free and run it from a floppy or USB drive or Buy Norton and do the install. In fact, you could get the free trial and install that of either of these and they will clean your problem.

McAffe security protection. Compaq Presario XP

Hi,
The Windows Firewall is different from MCafee Security Centre. And if it has a X on it that means Ur MCafee Protection is disabled or May be expired.
To Check that, Just click on the MCafee Icon on the desktop or on the botton right hand corner, and check if its disabled or u needs to renew it.

Thank You,

Fake site turning up

try changing your homepage to what you want it to be. if it keeps reverting back to that or won't let you change it at all - i seem to remember an adware infection called search save or cool savings (something to that effect). If that's the case you will need some sort of virus/adware removal tool to get rid of it or you can reinstall windows.

hope this helps
