SOURCE: Onkyo TX-8522 stuck on standby

This is Not a real Fix, However it stops the problem!
Do not plug any power cords into the Receiver.  I have found that using the "switched or unswitched" plugs in the back cause the trouble.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR705 Muting Problem

if what Dark_Orbit said does not work try doing a master reset by ressing and holding the dvr/vcr button and stand by button simultaneously. This would erase all your assignments so you would need to reassign all your sources hooked up to your onkyo.

SOURCE: connecting a wii to an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2

I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.

My Onkyo TX-NR838 switches off when I turn the tv off. I can't switch the receiver back on for 2 days

sounds like a faulty cable or psu .... or some bad solders on the back of a scart socket if you use scart
if not its something to do with TV detection the TX-NR unit uses

My Onkyo tx-sr707 AV receiver no longer produces any sound in any of the modes: ie, TV cable, radio etc.. I still get a picture through my cable's hdmi connection, That hdmi connection runs from from...

You may know by now Onkyo has severe HDMI board problems. If your unit comes on with no sound, forget about the heatsink solution. The second solution of wavesoldering the Ic's is chancy at best, and requires someone with proper soldering equipment for Surface mount flat pack ic's. I've seen a hear gun attempt blow the surrounding electrolytic capacitors out of their cans. Onkyo extended the warranties for many of their high failure boards. Check the following site to see if you qualify for the exchange/repair/replacement: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-receivers-amps-processors/1652514-onkyo-acknowledges-failed-units-extending-warrranties-until-2018-a.html.

Onkyo TX-SR701 Digital audio port stopped working

you may want to try a factory reset by pressing and holding vcr1 button while pressing the power button. do this with the unit on. It will reset back to factory default. so any saved setting will be lost and you will have to set again to your settings.
