Having trouble with the memory card

I have a memory card that is compatible with both PS1 and PS2. I've had a PS1 for the longest time and I just got a used PS2 for Christmas. Now I have used my memory card on different PS2's and it worked every time. I tired saving the game I was playing, (Kingdom Hearts) the game did not recognize the memory card. When I looked at the Browser to see if the console was recognizing it and it did. I tried everything I could think of that could be wrong with it, but to no avail. Is it the game's problem or the memory card?

You need a new memory card, the one you have may not be large enough, or wrong format. I suggest a 32MB PS2 format mem card.

I have a silver slim ps2 model number SCPH-77001. Everytime I play a ps1 game on it (which it has no problems with) it wont read my ps1 memory card. I've tried it on both slots, tried 4-5 other ps1...

You shouldnt have too. I think I know the problem. Turn on your ps2 without a game in it and it would take you to the home screen. After that go to browser with your ps1 memory card and select it. And then it should give you an option to format it. Hope this helps

My ps2 slim memory cards work on the main screen, but i'm trying to play a ps1 game and as i try to save the game, it says that there is no memory card present. I bought another card with more memory.....

You can't save PS1 games on a PS2 memory card. You need to buy a PS1 memory card to save PS1 games. The PS1 card will plug into the standard memory slot on a PS2, but the insides are different.

Not able to access memory card from within the

On PS2 models be sure to use PS1 memory cards if you are running a PS1 game - PS2 memory cards are not compatible with PS1 games running on the PS2. However, it is possible to copy saved files from PS1 cards to a PS2 card in order to save space. (Abe's Oddysee is a PS1 game).

Final Fantasy PS2 problem, "failed to check memory card"

Im going to ask you the simplest of all questions, if you can't answer it then step away from the Playstation! Is it a PS1 or PS2 Memory card?

There is no reason why it won't work if it is a PS1 memory card unless the card itself is corrupt somehow

If it is a PS2 memory card use a PS1 card. FFVIII is a PS1 game. Therefore needs a PS1 card

Memory card

You can use it to save Ps1 games only if im not mistaken. The ps2 games themselves won't recognize the memory card.

Hope this helps.

Ps2 memory cards

ok, u must have a PS1 memory card in order to save PS1 games. the common PS2 memory card will not save old style game data. for a good place to get a PS1 memory card, a local Gamestop store, or Ebay. good luck man.

Ps1 disc playing in ps2

Are you inserting a PS2 or a PS1 memory card?
PS1 games can't use a PS2 card because they don't "understand" how to read them.
To save a PS1 game on a PS2 you will need a PS1 memory card.

I hope this helps, I assume this is what you are referring to with your question.

Playstation card

Your question is somewhat confusing, using a playstation 2 memory card, will have PS2 game saves on it, how would you play PS2 games on a PS1 from the save, you can't. If you just mean you are using a PS2 card for a PS1, the way a PS2 card saves data is different to a PS1 card, so it probably won't work You can use your PS1 memory cards in the PS2. You can only use the PS1 memory cards to save PS1 games that you are playing in your PS2. You can't save any PS2 game data to a PS1 memory card
