Question about Lexmark Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I hve an X83 all-in-one ... I lifted the cover to copy a picture and it SOUNDED like something dropped into the bck. When I pushed start, there was a loud "BANG". We could find nothing inside, yet whenever the 2 cartridges came together we got this loud bang. This loud bang happened once before when my my cell phone fell down into the bck. I fished out the phone and everything worked well. Now this. I disconnected everything and the "multi-media" guy from church took a look at it, but couldn't discover any problem. I do not know whether to toss it out (I really LOVE this mchine) or send it somewhere to be fixed. Sincerely, Mrs Sharonn Buckman raynsk@iowatelecom.net 641-791-5286

Sounds like the ink carrier is broken. It is not economical to get it repaired.

Cannon fax l100 how can I fix this problem

Looks like a document jam as the paper rolled up under the scanner bed.
Do you have the manual for the unit?
It is on line at mypdfmanuals.com. Just google it!

1. Lift the document release lever.

If a multi-page document is loaded, remove
the entire document from the ADF.

2. Lift the paper stack cover and pull it out completely.

Make sure the back end of the cover does
not catch the front paper guide.

3. Lower the scanning platform in the document delivery slot (this is on ththe front of the machine - a small tab you push down.

4. Carefully!!! pull out the jammed document - do not wrench it out.

5. Lift the scanning platform back into place.

6. Inset the paper stack cover (that you took out earlier.

I'M GETTING A THICK BLACK LINE DOWN THE MIDDLE OF MY. PHOTO AND UPLOAD. TRIED RE CALIBRATING WITH WHITE PAPER. DIDN'T WORK HELP

What printer do you have? Is the black line appearing on the paper when you print or when you fax/copy something?
If it is the latter, then there will be a mark on the optics glass that needs to be cleaned. Usually people using whiteout when wet causes this.
You will need to lift the cover where the paper goes through and check the glass

When i copy or fax get a black ink line down the page

Do you get a black line when printing also ? If not the **** glass the "reads your document has something on it (like whiteout). Lift the cover where you feed documents in and take a look for a small clear plastic window that runs from left to right and clean it with alcohol. Good luck !

Keep getting a "check original" message on screen - won't fax or copy

the check original relaates to the document you are trying to copy or fax check the guides for the document input and check you are putting teh doc in far enough yuoo can also lift the cover and check there isnt any obstruction .. basically the sensor that lets the machine know you have a doc on the go isnt getting actuated to start the process..try and put a thick piece of card in the doc feed part to see if it goes through it might push through the obstruction

Straight line comes up when i make a copy or fax to some one

if your received faxes look good and this only happens when you fax someone or make a copy, lift up your document feeder and you will see a glass under it that is about an 1.5" wid and runs left to right. something is on that glass. perhaps whiteout or something like that. clean that off good and you should be fine. if it doesn't take care of problem, write back.

Brother MFC 7820N error message "back cover open" but cover is closed. machine is now not functional as error message can't be removed

If you open the back cover (depress the release button on the top right) If you lift it up look for two black anchors that grab the base when you close the lid. I have one that has a broken tab on the left side, which happens to be the same side as the cover closed switch. If the top is not closed all the way the rollers do not line up and the cover switch is not depressed to let normal operation. Also, if the switch arm is busted (case colored plastic push pin protruding from the cover) it will not make contact with the switch when closed. Try closing the cover and push down on left side of the fax. Does the error go away? If not, the actuator arm or the switch are bad.

FAX will not print.

I have the same problem. Found this solution on the Brother site:

If the faxes you receive and the copies you make print half blank pages
please follow the steps listed below:

1. Unplug the power cord

2. Lift the top cover up.

3. Next, lift the two purple release levers located on each side of the
metal plate. The print head will pop up.

4. Remove the ribbon cartridge from the unit.

5. Lift the plastic paper cover (located behind the black rubber
roller).

6. Carefully remove any paper that is jammed by pulling in an upward
direction.

7. Push the paper cover down (located behind the black rubber roller).

8. Place the ribbon cartridge back in the unit with the ribbed triangle
on the plastic casing furthest away from you. Make sure the cartridge
gears rest in the white gear holders.

9. Gently push down the print head until it clicks into place.

10. Close the top cover securely.

11. Plug the power cord back in.

Test by making a copy.

1. Place a document (with text on both sides) in the ADF (automatic
document feeder).

2. Adjust the paper guides on the sides of the ADF to fit the width of
the document.

3. Press the COPY key.

If the problem continues and your machine is within warranty, you can
