Trouble connecting ipod touch to password protected wi-fi

Using Linksys wireless internet router in the house. Supports Dell lap top and Dell desk top. The ipod will connect to other wi-fi's that are not password protected but rejects the password for my protected wi-fi. I have confirmed that the password that I am trying is correct.

Is there a simple set up solution that I am missing?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Most of the linksys router has a manual. Check your manual and read to wireless configuration. Right there you can change the password. First step is to open a internet browser like internet explorer, mozilla firefox or google chrome etc. then on the address bar you will type http://192.168.0.1 then enter or follow the instruction on your manual and the page will ask you for username and password. Oftentimes the username is admin and password is none then press enter.

In case you do not what the password is, you may reset the button on the behind of the router by pressing the small hole using some hard stick or a ballpen for about 10 seconds to reset the settings on your linksys router. Then after resetting configure your password so that others will not connect directly to your wireless router.

Have a nice day.

    Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button
If you have client devices, such as wireless adapters, that
support Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then you can
use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to automatically
configure wireless security for your wireless
    network(s).

To use Wi-Fi Protected Setup, run the Setup
Wizard, or refer to the “Wireless > Basic Wireless
Settings” section of “Chapter 3: Advanced
    Configuration".

Wi-Fi Protected Setup LED (Blue/Amber) It
lights up blue when wireless security is
enabled. The LED flashes blue for two
    minutes during Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
The LED lights up amber if there is an error
during the Wi‑Fi Protected Setup process. Make
sure the client device supports Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup. Wait until the LED is off, and then try again.
The LED flashes amber when a Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup session is active, and a second session
begins. The Router supports one session at a
time. Wait until the LED is off before starting the
    next Wi-Fi Protected Setup session.

    Hi,

Check for the password on the router configuration page to make sure tat you are using the correct one:

    1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
    2. Access the router usually http://192.168.0.1 else try http://www.routerlogin.com
    3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it).
    4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
    5. Check if 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)' or 'WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)' is selected under 'Security Options'.
    6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase.
    7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the Key that has a black dot before it.
This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the routers' wireless network.

My ipod touch is connected but won't use the internet.

Your router is blocking the iPod Touch from using the wireless.  Go into your router settings (depends on your router) and find the security or firewall for the wireless page.  You will need to enter in the MAC address of the iPod Touch (found in Settings>General>About - it is labeled as Wi-Fi address).
