I have the same problem. I couldn´t figure out what the problem was, but when I read your note here I discovered that my problem was exactly the same. When the battery is away It works perfectly.

Have you bought a new battery, and did work then...?

Why are the batery powerlight not shining green on microsoft wireless keyboard 3050. Don't find a on off button.

I don't think there is a power button on the keyboard. It is probably due to the batteries being dead or very low. Change them and you should be fine.

Hello experts, my Acer Aspire 3050 has a malfunction on the laptop keyboard/touchpad. After power-up, at a certain point the cursor stops moving (the touchpad doesn't have any effect), and I cannot enter...

1) Is there any accidental liquid or water damage on the keyboard, if there is possibly the keyboard and track-pad fails cause it may have affected the circuitry in it.

2) See if you can access the BIOS and try to reset to factory/default settings. Save and exit. May resolve the trackpad and keyboard issue. From the BIOS you can individually disable stuff built into laptops like USB, card reader, etc. At banks and businesses, they usually disable USB controller cause you know work policy.

3) If you want to know if its hardware or software issue. Suggest you try with Linux distro like Ubuntu. Burn to a disc or make a external USB pen drive and boot from that. If the keyboard and mouse work in Ubuntu, then its a software issue. If it still doesn't work, then its hardware issue. You don't need to install Ubuntu, you can run it without installing it. Although you can install Ubuntu alongside Windows if you want to.

4) Sometimes driver issue, use the manufacturer driver, or check windows updates for the drivers. At this point i would suggest getting an external USB mouse and keyboard just to do this.

Laptop does not turn off - only reboots. Mouse and keyboard is slow or will not respond - usb keyboard and mouse work ok. Can not make "factory disk" and any upgrade to OS fails.

Your computer needs to be diagnostically tested by a certified technician. They have an excellent repair program at the Staples stores now. Check it out. Joe

Slow Keyboard and mouse, DPC's problems

switch everything over to usb...mouse and keyboard... or by a ps2 to usb adapter and test it out... one usb to ps2 adapter can handle both keyboard and mouse... if that doesn't work its either a virus or memory...

Keyboard Malfunction

I suggest you to remove battery.
If this is still not working, your keyboard or motherboard is bad.
Did you spills any liquid on your keyboard ? if you did, probably only your keyboard.
From your explanation, i suspect it's motherboard.
