Acer 3050 battery doesn't charge and causes CPU to run at 90%
I contacted Acer about the problem and their solution was to buy a new
battery since the computer was not longer under warranty and they
really didn't know what was going on! In talking with friends, and
checking on-line, the consensus is that laptop batteries don't last
more than two years. You can keep them charged, let them run down,
recharge them frequently: they still will only last about two years.
I just find it hard to believe that Acer has never heard of this
problem, especially when I'm reading similar posts on this site.
Anyway, as deviant00 suggested, I got a new battery on Amazon.com for
$56. They offered $30 off if I signed up for their credit card. The
final cost was $26. The battery came today and the computer works like
a charm. I also followed jell587's advice and scanned the computer with the Malware he suggested:no viruses.
The solution for me was buy another battery; expect it to last for a couple of years.
Thanks for all the help.
