Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook

1 Answer

My PC laptop is running slow, especially when waking up after being in sleep mode. It used to be okay. I got rid of all the superfluous start up programs long ago, so I'm worried that I have malware or such that slipped in through AVG. I've tried to sweep with lavasoft, found some objects, deleted them, no change. I removed AVG at a friend's suggestion, because those constant updates really slowed stuff down. I've heard that good malware will hide and interfere with attempts to remove it. I'm sure this is a common problems. Any best free downloadable stuff out there? thanks!

How to wake msi u130 from sleeping?tnx

If it is in sleep pressing any key or moving the mouse will generally wake it up. If you left the computer unplugged in sleep mode then it most likely ran out of power. If your using hibernate I would recommend not using it as it has so many issues.... :) If you have to hit the power button to wake it up then it's either shutdown or in hibernate. FYI there will generally be an amber light on to indicate sleep mode. If no lights it's most likely not in sleep mode.

Not wake from sleep or hibenate

Usually, to wake from sleep pr hibernate, you just need to press the "Power" button of your laptop. It will not turn it off or restart the laptop if it is in the "sleep" or hibernate mode. Pressing any key usually wake it up. The default way is to press the power button as if turning it ON for the first time.

Can't wake up....gone into sleep mode...how do you wake it up

press and hold the power button down for about 5 secs. The computer will shut down. Restart it and right click on the desktop, go to properties then look for screensaver tab , then choose power options, click on hibernation tab at the top and uncheck enable hibernation. Or choose stanby options and choose a longer time before the computer goes to sleep.

Waking up after going to sleep

I have had similar problem. I found, by trial and error, that using Windows hibernate mode actually works every time! Windows makes a "System screen shot" and stores it on hard drive and then powers off. Just be aware that you must ensure enough hard drive space for this. I am using this mode every day now.
