Question about Motorola Two-Way Radios
I am trying to get a second control head for the XTL 5000. I got 2 different part numbers from 2 different Motorola Dealers, H1517A & H1764. Which one is the correct one? Thank You for Your Response, Captain K Carpenter
H1517A is listed as a ASTRO SPARE CTRL UNIT W7 FAS. H1764 is listed as a W7 DUAL CONTROL HEAD RETROFIT KIT. You would need to call Motorola to confirm, but it appears one is the number used when you order it with a new radio. The other is the number you use when ordering for a radio you already own. It is unclear what the difference is. The H1764 is significantly higher in price.
Also, the dealers quoting you the W7 may be able to clear this up for you. The XTL5000 is an APB item and not in the standard dealer book.

To set the code for a channel:
1. Press Menu until the CODE number begins to flash.
2. Press the + or - to select the desired code.
3. Press the PTT to save the code.
Note: You can set a different code ofr each channel using this procedure.
Zero (0) equals OFF.
If you continue to have problems, set both radios back to a very basic setting with all special featured turned off and see if you can communicate. Then add the desired features back in one at a time until you have what you'd like on both radios.
