Question about Jasco Ge Intellicorder

No lcd display on GE Intellicorder

I just purchased and installed a GE IntelliCorder™ Camera System charged the main battery while I installed the camera unit at the door peep hole. Following the manual, I removed the plastic film from the smaller battery. Loaded the main (newly charged) battery and got no signal or pattern on the LCD. Just stays black. I double checked the main battery and charger says it is fully charged. I wanted to set the time and date, etc. on the display, no matter what buttons I pushed, nothing appears on the LCD. No indication of power to the LCD, so I thought perhaps I have to connect it to the door unit to make it work. Doesn`t sound logical, but being desperate I mounted the unit to the installed door camera cable. Still nothing. Frustrating, indeed. I do not have a SD/MMC card for this unit (yet), but I do not believe having  a memory card in the unit is essential to the working of the LCD. I am thinking there is fault in the electronics, something beyond my DIY ability to correct. But, . . . figured I try asking an ''expert'' before shipping the unit back to the store I bought it from. Help please?!

Thanks, WirelessGreg, for your quick reply during this Holiday Season!
The Manual you referred me to and your advice was helpful. However, the model of this particular product shown in the online manual has different battery configuration from my model. Everything is exactly the same in this model, however. Perhaps my model is a newer version, since it, came with a single 3.7 v battery (with special charger), similar to the ones used in digital cameras. I tested my battery with a voltage meter and it was at full power. Also, my unit came with a complete Owners Manual, but there was no mention of this problem in the Trouble Shooting Section. Frustrated and unable to solve this problem on my own, I returned the unit to the seller for a refund. Hopefully for a Full Refund.?
    Thanks again for your assistance!

For a blank LCD screen, the troubleshooting section of the manual says you need 3 new or fully charged alkaline batteries AND you need to firmly connect all cables.

What you have described certainly sounds like a power issue. Any chance the batteries are installed backward? Have you tried 3 brand new alkaline batteries?

This is from the manual page 17 found here:

It's probably the small ffc(ribbon cable) connections from control panel to main board...remove top to access control panel;remove 5? screws and CAREFULLY lift control panel from camera...ribbon cable is obvious...it connects at both ends to zif(zero insertion force) connectors...EXTREME CARE HERE...the small brown part lifts to remove pressure to cable and cable can be GENTLY removed...try re-inserting cable CAREFULLY to align conductors with contacts.

The charge circuit probably only supplies a tiny charge current to prevent overcharging of the main battery and I suspect the original is a NiCad and has likely lost a cell or two (shorted; it's common with them) over that fairly long period.
Replacing it with either Lithium Ion or NiMh rechargeables with a honest voltage rating (*some aren't) is a good move; neither of these are as prone to failure as NiCad is. Don't be surprised if you still have a 'low battery' alert for several days since these batteries rarely have a full charge when shipped.
*So-called '9V' block batteries are, except for rare batteries, actually 8.4 or even only 7.2 volts. I have some instruments that indicate 'Low battery' with either of these even when fully charged.

There is no fuse on the Simon 3 board. If your transformer is good and measures 9-11V AC you charging circuit is gone and you will need a new motherboard. AlarmProfessor.net

I have ge simon 3 - Purchased ion micra -g wireless window and door compatible sensors. Didn't come with how to add sensor. Wants me to push button on sensor; where is that button

I'm having the same problem on a used Simon. I think the button is inside the wireless transmitter. It has a spring attached to it. Just press on the spring to send wireless signals to the panel. My problem is I press on the spring and the panel does not receive the signal, even with a $20 fresh Lithium Ion battery from Radio Shack.

Channel 3/Camera 3 not displaying properly

try swapping the cam inputs first to rule out the unit, if not the camera may be faulty or needs setting up properly with a focus adapter, or the lens could need setting up!
when CCTV company's set up these systems they have all the equipment to plug in and focus auomatically etc..
Hope this helps!
Try looking at www.digitalvideos.co.uk (test equipment) section.

Contant Beeping on alarm

The Fail To Comm message is not related to your low battery problem. A Fail to Communicate occurs when the alarm system tries to send a signal (alarm, trouble or restore) to a monitoring service but can't. Most often the causes are telephone related. Has your system been disconnected from it's phone line? Have you recently changed phone services from your main carrier to an internet provider that provides VOIP service? Sometimes alarm systems have a hard time communicating over these services. Whatever the reason for the
