Check your FUEL INJECTOR HOUSING. The old style factory housing most likely has an internal crack. OLD style has the INJECTORS AT THE HOUSING with tubes running fuel to the engine. NEW housing has wires running to the INJECTORS AT THE ENGINE. If you have the OLD style then it is probably (99%) cracked. This will cause fuel to be sprayed into neighboring cylinders causing a firing problem. This crack IS NOT visible because it is internal. After exhausting all the regular solutions to your misfire with no success, you will probably try to replace the individual injector (like I did....cost approx. $300) and you will still have the misfire. To replace the entire housing with injectors will cost around $400. Good Luck.....on other forums, I've seen people replace anything and everything (including engines) and still had problems with the misfire.
If you're in Louisville KY and need a mechanic (not a parts replacer) for this, try Tony Johnson @ 3215 Fern Valley Rd. 502-387-0847

Mmine showed the same thing and it ended up being the fuel pressure reregulator leaking into #5 and #7 ports. it's directly attatched to the ininjectors under the intake plenum

#5 and #7 are easily confused because they are right next to each other in the firing order of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 , you should have a flat style cap . check to see if the wires are crossed !!

It could be one or both of the items you discussed. In addition, did you change the rotor when you changed the cap. If the cylinders have individual coils the coil could be weak as well.

Misfire in cylinder4 97 tahoe

Check the plug and wire by taking them out and swapping them with a plug and wire from another cylinder. If the miss follows the parts, they are bad. If the miss stays with the cyl you may have a bad injector, bad compression or bad dist cap.

1997 chevy 1500 z71 cylider 1 misfire

Start by inspecting the spark plug. If it looks ok, swap it with another cyl and see if the miss follows the plug. Do the same with the wire. If the miss changes with the part, that is the problem. If it stays with the cyl make sure you are getting spark from the dist cap. If the miss is still there, check engine compression. If it is good, may have a bad injector or mechanical problem or vacuum leak

Ignition cylinder stuck in on position. how do you change it if it won't move?

if your shift selector cable broke/came loose, the vehicle will still think you are in gear and will not allow you to lock the column and remove the key. easiest way to see the cable is to remove the instrument cluster and look behind the orange "PNRD21" indicator.

Misfire on number 6 plug code p0306on 1997 chevy silverado

that code means the #6 cylinder is not putting out power, it doesn't mean any paticuliar part is at fault, it can be low cylinder compression, a defective fuel injector or computer, a defective plug or ignition coil or a large intake manifold vaccum leak .

That is not something many domestic auto manufacturers offer. that is mainly a foreign concept. you will need to drop the fuel tank which is a big undertaking for someone without the proper tools and equipment. I have heard of a local shop burning down in NYC because of complications during a fuel pump change.

THE IGN A FUSE UNDER THE HOOD KEEPS POPPING

You have a serious short. The fuse is keeping you from frying the electrical system. Did you make any changes to the vehicle recently? Is it all stock electrical? If so, check the Ignition relay in the alternate fuse panel. If that does not work, post a reply and I'll help you dig further. Hope this helps
