Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 Digital Camera

Clock setting not saving

I have just bought this camera but I cannot seem to get the clock to save. Every time i turn the camera on it asks me to set the clock. Sometimes the clock even resets when the camera is turned on. I am certain I am following the instructions correctly in setting the clock. This problem is very annoying as i do not want to have to return camera. I would be very grateful for any solutions somebody can give me...

Re: Clock setting not saving

This link will give you the user instruction manual for your camera; Page 19 describes the clock setting procedure - first check that you are doing everything as described, especially the "press menu button 2 times after finishing the setting" If you still have no luck, then unfortunately there is a problem with the internal clock/settings battery/cell, which should normally charge from the main battery enough for 3 months - on this camera, the internal battery is not a user replaceable item, but your warranty should allow you to get it replaced free. Sorry if bad news, hope it helps :)

Why does nikon j1 clock reset each time the camera starts up

Yes, there is a separate battery for the clock and all of your saved settings that is not user replaceable. All Nikon 1 cameras are still in warranty because the camera only recently became available. I would phone Nikon USA's Service Department at (800) 645-6687 Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and they will tell you how to proceed.

Setting time with your JVC VIDEO CAM.

Sometimes we are lazy enough to read our users manual, we want it easy and quicky. For this reason this is common issue to JVC camera users find hard on setting their camera's clock and calendar. Setting is easy but saving your setting is tricky. So set your camera's date and time the usual way and make sure to switch off your camera first completely and remove power(battery or ac adapter) to have your setting save. Next time it will not ask you to set again until internal clock battery expires.

Nikon Coolpix keep resetting Time and Date and menu settings.

I am listing this tip for the Nikon Coolpix 995, but the tip is valid for all Nikon Coolpix models.

The Nikon cool pix settings are saved into an internal memory.

The internal memory is maintained by an internal rechargeable battery, that is recharged from the main Li-Ion battery.

If you leave your Nikon overnight with no main battery, or if the Li-Ion batteries have drained, then the internal battery will also drain , resetting the clock and other settings, saved on the internal memory. The camera may even drain in about 6 hours depending on the camera, normally it takes at least 12 hrs to drain the clock battery.

If the internal battery is resetting immediately, after you set the clock, or just after few minutes, then the clock battery must be replaced.

The camera must be disassembled completely to replace the battery located on one of the two main internal boards.

Nikon says that the clock battery loosing charge is normal. I quote what they say on the publication titled " The Nikon Guide to digital photography with Coolpix"

"Backup battery of the clock
The clock-calendar is powered by a separate rechargeable battery, which is charged as necessary when the main battery is installed. If the camera has been stored with the main battery removed for a long period of time, the clock may need to be reset. Once the main battery has been reinserted, the clock battery will recharge in several hours, during which time the main battery should be left in the camera."

If the clock does not work at all, and is resetting immediately, even though the Li-Ion batteries are fully charged, then the best thing to do is calling Nikon, at the number listed on the owners manual, telling them that you did not do any improper use of the camera, and trying to get the fault repaired as factory defect. That is not always possible, and the decision depends on Nikon customer service.

Pentax k2000 won't save time and date

In most modern cameras is a little rechargeable battery, that keeps the clock ticking. If your camera was a long time without power, perhaps this battery has died. I would buy a new set NiMH rechargeable or recyclo batteries, because they have a bit less capacity, but can hold power for as long as a year. Then charge them and leave the rechargeable batteries in your camera. Keep your fingers crossed, perhaps the little clock battery will be revived?

I have an Olympus 850sw and each time I turn it on it asks to enter the date and time. Why is that?

Most of the cameras with a date time clock have a secondary internal power source like a small watch type battery some point and shoot cameras use a storage cell which takes power from the main battery. This means when the main battery looses power the camera clock will hold a setting for about 1 day or 24 hours. To keep the camera clock set you need to keep a charge in the main battery. Here is a screen shot from the manual explaining this function.

I have a new PowerShot A580 and am having problems: 1. Every time I turn on my camera it asks for me to set the date and time. I've done it and saved it, but the same message keeps recurring. What can I...

Replace this small battery near memory card:P it is hidden under a piece of plastic. it works like a battery on a mainboard - keeps clock alive.
