Model DSC-S730 Camera flash is not working

When taking pictures, the flash does not work. I have checked the flash setting and it doesn't matter when it is set for on, off, or auto, it still does not work. Everything else appears to be fine, but I can't take some pictures without the flash working. I replaced the batteries, but nothing changed. The camera was just purchased in July, 2008.

It was working for a while then all of a sudden it stopped. This is beginnig to sound like a manufacturing problem.

I just took 2 pictures 5 minutes ago and my flash was working fine. Then I tried to take another picture and got no flash and my picture came out real dark. I messed around with the camera some to see if it was the settings, nope wasn't that and the flash still doesn't work. What do I do now??

I have the same problem. Unfortunately, the limited warranty has already expired for mine, and Sony wants me to send it in so they can charge me $98.00 to fix it. (I payed around $120 for it) I think instead of doing that, I am going to use the money to buy a new camera and it will NOT be a sony. Good Luck To Everyone Else.

The flash in my camera, purchased April 2008, has recently quit working as well.

Take off the SD card and try to copy from other SD reader with connected at PC; if this isn't work, then you should try formatting the card. If that doesn`t help, it looks like the card is faulty.

Its possible that you lost the pics in there.

Problem with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730 Digital Camera Model DSC-S730 Camera flash is not working

You must verify how you set the flash: auto, on or off. Set it "on" and try it. If it not work so, it's out of service. In "auto" mode it's possible to not work sometimes because light sensor.

Dsc s730 flash not working

If the Forced flash setting is already enabled and the flash is still not working, then the issue may be due to another camera setting. Even if the Forced flash setting is enabled, the flash will still not work in the following circumstances:

  • When shooting MPEG movies.
  • When shooting in the Twilight or Handheld Twilight mode.
  • If shooting with the Burst or Multi Burst mode.
  • Shooting with Sweep Panorama.
  • Shooting with the Fireworks or High Sensitivity mode.
  • If an external flash is connected.

Please make sure that the Camera is not set to any of these modes. You can check the manual to get the information to change the setting..

If the issue persists, please reset the Camera and make sure that battery is fully charged.

You can use the initialize option on the Menu to reset the Camera.

If the issue persists after performing all the above mentioned troubleshooting steps, service is required.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

Thanks for understanding.

Flash does not work

Please note that:

1. You can not use the Flash when the Camera is set to Burst or Multi Burst mode.

2. You can not use the Flash when the ISO or Twilight mode is selected in the Scene Selection.

3. You can not use the Flash when mode dial is set to Movie.

Also try these steps and check:

4. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and the flash is turned ON.

Please set the Landscape mode or Snow mode or Beach mode in the Scene Selection and check if the flash is working.

5. Try initializing the Camera and check if it works normally.

NOTE: Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

6. Please press the Menu button on the Camera. Then, select the SETUP menu and select the SETUP 1 option of the Camera. Then, select the Initialize option to OK.

7. Try to power reset the Camera and check if it helps to resolve the issue. I suggest that you reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.

8. If the issue still persists then the Camera requires service.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Flash not working

I had the same problem with my flash not working on any setting, but I found a way to fix it: hit the menu button, make sure the "rec mode" choice is set to normal instead of burst. I think the burst mode takes multiple shots in a row, so the flash isn't compatible with that setting?
