Question about Numark iDJ2 - DJ iPOD Mixer Docking Station

1 Answer

When docking it takes too long transfering data from ipod to idj2

Docked my ipod for the first time it too quite a while to load but it worked.

added more tracks to the ipod, docked it then selected update, it took over 2hrs & never loaded, I've tried it a few times but I still get the same result, but I can still play the same tunes that I loaded the first time.

I have the same problem as well but if I choose Load instead of Update it doesn't recognize a device in the dock. Mine is an ipod that has been updated on a Mac with the latest version of Librarian. I've done the 1.09 firmware update and it still will not load. Any solution for Mac based rigs?

Hi,
if you have a PC, you're better of preparing a library for your USB/IPOD devices with Librarian 1.50, but only if you are running 1.09(a) firmware on the IDJ2. This is the preferred and quicker way...
Do an upgrade if this is not done yet. Go to
http://www.numark.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1230/tt/5
for downloading the files.

When rerunning the librarian(for instance when adding tracks), choose normal mode. It will add every playable track. (you could try this out on an USB stick with some tracks on it for testing purposes).
If this doesn't work, you could have a corrupt library, and have to rebuild(choose advanced in Librarian). Also, when you have created with earlier versions of IDJ2 firmware, then you have to rebuild the whole library.

Numark stated on their forums, when connecting a device, to never choose update, but load instead. It can use mp3/wav/non secured aac files, but not wma..
If there are any other questions, you can also send an e-mail to numark. They are reasonably quick with their responses.

regards

Jack

My ipod 120GB can only load 20% of my 1000songs befor freezing I did all that iTunes Trouble shooter said but to no avail. is their a way to fix this without sending it in or should i **** can my po

It will probably take an hour or two to sync 20 gigs of music.

I am sure your 4,178 songs are somewhere around 20 gig.

It takes roughly 6 - 8 hours to put 80 gig on.

Imagine how long it took to put my 130 gigs on.

Word of advice, make sure you turn the settings to manually manage music.

You don't want to lose all your music cause you hook it up to another computer and it syncs with its itunes.

installing more computer ram might be an option

If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

you should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible

also check the usb leads for secure dust free connections

if you scroll to the bottom toolbar while syncing your ipod select task manager application to see whats running if you see something running that should not be running select end now also in the applications see whats ticking over

you might have a virus

To disable automatic updating:

1. Connect iPod to your computer
2. Open iTunes.
3. Select iPod in the iTunes source list, you know in that left column where your playlists and ipod are located.
4. right click on your ipod and select the Options button.
5. Select "Manually manage songs and playlists."

No more long updating each time you connect your ipod.
(Although you might have to wait one more time to do this step but im sure you can do it intermittedly while its updating)

to re enable

1 - Select the iPod in iTunes.
2 - Tick Manually manage music and videos.
3 - Select the Music under Library at the top left of iTunes.
4 - Reselect the iPod and uncheck Manually manage music.
Also, uncheck Enable disk use.

Also remember in the Manange you own tracks mode you need to disconnect your ipod by clicking on the "eject ipod" icon in the bottom right or next to your ipod icon.

The ipod will continue to flash "do not disconnect" if you don't click the eject icon.

Not that my way is hard but there might be a quicker and easier way to load tracks in your ipod when its switched to the manange your own tracks mode.

If there is I would like to know

hope this helps

We have a Nuvo Essentia Six-Source, Six-Zone system. It plays the iPod fine, but the control pad says 'No iPod Detected'. This means I have to control the iPod from the unit itself, rather than being...

I had a few systems that did this but once I performed the latest firmware update it fixed everything.

If the combus on the ipod gets shorted then it will also do this. You have to disconnect the Cat-5 cable from the dock, unhook the ipod, reconnect the cat-5, then reconnect the ipod.

I would contact your installer and have him update the system for you, failing that re-do your connections on the dock. If that does not work you may have a deformed connector on the ipod that shorts the combus (had that once on a Russound system). Or a defective dock

Hope this helps,

Cannot navigate iPod in VW Golf

I think once it is set in the dock, it is a safety issue where it won't let you go through folders until the iPod is taken out of the dock. That is my experience.

Uploading problem

Some things you have to do yourself... It only takes some work to get it right.

For using ipods or harddrives/USB sticks with the IDj2, your best off with creating Numark libraries. This makes the IDj2 quicker when searching/loading tracks.

This can be done on your Mac or PC with
librarian 1.50/IDJ2 1.09(a)firmware combination. If you havent updated your IDJ2 yet, do so. It's the most recent verion, and fixes most problems...
Files can be found on www.numark.com/idj2. Look around in this page. There is also explained how to update with a FAT formatted USB stick.

If you have created a library before, Itunes won't update this library, cause it's made by Numark. Itunes and Numark use both a different database.
If you run Librarian, it will still see the Ipod playlists, and add them accordingly in your Numark database, and can be recalled in the IDJ2.
If you have created libraries with Librarian 1.33 or on the IDJ2 with firmware before 1.09. You have to remove the whole libary, and recreate one with Librarian 1.50.
Mostly there is a directory on the device called " .library ". You can throw this away, and recreate a new library.

Good luck and happy DJ-ing.

regards,
Jack.

Idj2 stutter start button

I have this same problem. I haven't found a solution anywhere, but a great workaround is using the Fader Start function - basically the moment the fader is slid into the main mix, the deck which you enable will start to play the tune. Hit the mode button, then select control, and turn on Fader start. It's actually really cool and allows you to do some ballsy mixes :) The deck will pause (or cue depending on the setting) once you bring it back.
